Every day this week I could have shown you pictures of amazing sunrises and sunsets. For today's picture I had to run out of the house, nightgown flowing, slippers flopping, just to stand in the gusty winds (storm's a coming) to capture this bit of delight.

I bought this amaryllis with so much hope and joy, but it has done nothing but disappoint. No buds, not one, only leaves coming up all sorts of places you don't expect leaves, and then, they just flop over without warning. The bulb has plenty of water, but flop go the leaves. A few days later they might start the process of standing upright again, only to flop down. I confess to trouting for the pot, which is white ceramic with a little red stripe. I saw Christmas blooms in my future, but sadly that appears not to be. I will vacating my house of this bulb and starting fresh, hopefully with better luck. This time I went big time with a double bulb planter and I'll find a new single bulb for this cute pot.

Last, but not least, I bring you a new musical find. A few days ago I heard Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile's Guest DJ gig on NPR  (I'm a fan of All Songs Considered), which lead me to buy their collaborative album. After listening to it through a couple times I ended up humming Over Everything for the rest of the day.

You can find more 1, 2, 3 Things posts over on Carole's blog.

I love the shot up there Margene but so wish Smith had grabbed a shot of you grabbing the shot! :-)

I do appreciate all you did to get that shot (and I also like Patty's thought)! I once had a floppy amaryllis that never bloomed but I don't know why that happens. Looking forward to blossoms in the future, and giving Over Everything a listen.

Sometimes it's worth a sprint in your PJs to get the photo!! This one is a real winner. Gorgeous, Margene!

The holidays are truly catching me by surprise this year. Yes, of course I knew they were coming... but it suddenly feels full-on and I'm not there yet!! ;) Maybe an amaryllis of my own would help.
:)

I can just SEE you running out there to take that photo for us! I have last year's amaryllis and it's doing the same thing. I thought perhaps I could get it to come back but I'm guessing it won't. Thanks for the music recommendation, too.

Your mountain is so beautiful! Wow!

LOVE your sunrise shot - gorgeous. Thanks for running out to snap it and then sharing it with us. I'm going to wander over to hear the music.

What a stunning photo!

Is there a Viagra for plants?

I'd have been doing the same thing to photograph that sunrise - how beautiful! and thank you for the music recommendation - noted. and will check out (listening to Simon & Garfunkel radio now and it's too good to pause :-)

Definitely going to give that a listen! Your mountain view is amazing -- and so different every day. (Shoot -- it's different every minute of the day!) I, too would love to see you out there in your slippers, grabbing that amazing shot. :-) Some amaryllis bulbs . . . just disappoint. (I'd cut the leaves off, and just see what happens.) XO

Thx for sunrise! Don’t give up on your poor plant! Add a few chopsticks & some yarn for a supporting trellis. You’ll be glad!

Gorgeous sunrise! I have done the same. Lol. Good plan regarding the amaryllis. I've had that happen too and it's so disappointing. I'm in the process of seeing if mine will make a comeback or not.

magnificent!

Thank you for the music link! New to me and totally loving them.

I suspect the amaryllis may have been "prepped" improperly by the people who sold it.

Looking forward to weekend listening cuza you.

Mountain! Sunrise! Magnificent. Better luck with the next flower bulb.
Cheers~
