He's Got Moxie
A Picture Book

Suits Me

"May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art - write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself."

Neil Gaiman

Neil Gaiman is one of my favorite authors and because he has such a wonderful voice, I love to listen to him read his books. I can hear him saying the phrase above. Just as Kym did, I saw this quote and knew he was speaking to me. I know I'll read many fine books and kiss someone who thinks I'm wonderful and, some how or other, I know I'll make art, but what I really want to do is surprise myself and live with some "good madness".

I'd also like to simplify more, move more, notice more and realize more. If I had to pick a word for 2013 it would be "more". Not more stuff, more food, more of what is tangible, but more of what is truly the love of living.

To more!

Happy New Year Margene! I'll have to check out Neil Gaiman...

XOXOXO! I can't wait to share this year with you!

Amen. It's not the stuff we need, but the living!!!!!

It's an awesome quote and perfect for the new year.

To more!

I've seen him in person a couple times - once was earlier this year, at the Fitzgerald Theater as part of MPR's WITS series (with John Darnielle of the Mountain Goats!). The other time was when he was introducing the band the Flash Girls at a CD release party in a bookstore's back room.

I love every word you wrote today. All I can say is DITTO!

This post is so inspirational!

Happy Hew Year! Here's to more of that MORE. Love that quote.

Clearly auto-correct has a sense of humor: New Year.

Here's to more Margene! TGIF!

I love that quote! I have been listening to Neil Gaiman read "Neverwhere" and can't get enough. He's an incredible writer and reader! Here's to MORE in 2013!!

Happy New Year to you both! Thanks for sharing this - another author to check out - what a wonderful quote!

"Good madness" and "surprise" seem like a wonderful combination -- and along with "more"? Um, Happy Exciting New Year, Margene!!

Excellent!!! Love your word!

What a wonderful quote and exciting plans. The best advice I ever got from an art instructor was to look UP. Literally. He said we don't look up enough and miss amazing things. Damn he was right.

I like your idea for 2013. xo

What a touching quote and I love your calender!!
