Blue Monday Blues
May 24, 2010
Months ago I made promise (to myself) that something blue would always be on my needles. The promise hasn't been broken, but the project has been sitting, waiting quietly, in the knitting basket. Socks haven't called to me for some time, as Mr. Sock Mojo is on hiatus again. Where he goes and who he spends time with is a mystery to me, but it's evident he isn't here. Therefore, Carole's Picot Sock fell off my radar. I tell myself it won't be sock weather for several more months and it's OK to wait (although I did wear socks a couple of times last week).
It goes against my nature to have a UFO sitting around and knew I had to get back to the sock. When I took a peek into the pretty blue Wee Bunny Bag I was surprised to find one sock completely finished! My memory isn't as clear as it once was and I had no idea we had come so far. Another big plus was the leg of the second sock was nearly complete, too. The sweet blue sock is now out of hiding and will be worked on here and there.
Several blue yarns wait in the stash and almost all of them want to be lace. A siren's call comes from Flydesign Lacewing with her seductive and glorious shades of ocean blue. She cries to be made into the Hamamelis Shawl, but I’m trying to cover my ears. Sprössling will only grow if I stay true to her and, at this point, her lace is all I can handle. Soon, my dear blue Lacewing, soon.
Lucia left a comment some time ago to say the pansy was once called heartsease. The blue pansies on my patio are filling the pot. They were a bright spot on the patio during a weekend of dreary weather.
I'm also working on a pair of socks that have sat longer than I would like.
That is going to make a gorgeous Hamamelis!

Although it's not a race, I do understand the pull to finish and move on. Still, monogamy is usually a very good thing;-P

Uh. And, the memory thing? Obviously, it's not just you;-D

Oh, what a glorious blue! I can understand the temptation to rush in to it's charms. . .

That sock is so pretty! You will be done in no time at all. Love the blue pansies, too. I've got some purple and yellow ones that my SIL brought me on Easter and they are thriving, too.

I love how well the socks go with your sock bag!
Oh, that laceweight is the most lush blue...

I really love your blue mondays, especially the sweet sultry tune your pansies are singing.

The blue socks are so cheerful with the pink running along. I'm looking forward to seeing you in Sprossling. I agree with Anne, you pick the best colors! Happy final week of May to you!

The first time I planted a garden, Romeo took me to a garden store and helped me pick out pansies. Actually, he kind of dragged me kicking and screaming...gardening was HIS idea. But I adored those pansies, deadheaded with devotion, and kept them blooming the entire summer.

I wear socks every day, year 'round. These will be pretty when finished. Happy Blue Monday.

Are your pansies white now?

I'd definitely say it's sock weather today!

You are very talented with your blue yarns. Nice feature for today.

I have gone long enough without a simple picot sock on the needles cause I love how they grow without you looking. Rectified that Saturday through a complex justification process and now I'm much happier with ALL my WIPs.

Well, that shawl certainly is lovely. I haven't seen it before, but I think I will make a note of it. I am leaning hard to blues the last year or so, myself.
