The weather has been exceptionally beautiful, with temperatures cooler than normal, which I've found to be comfortable and livable.
When I have a day off I love to walk over to the Soul Garden and gather the days harvest. The Asian eggplants have been fun to watch as they grow and ripen. The red jalapenos (fresno) have added a nice bit of heat and color to our ratatouilles. Some of our plants have produced bumper crops, while other veggies are in short supply.
I'm rather proud of our lovely crop of cipollini onions, which were added at the last minute to the onion patch. Onions and garlic, both produced a very fine crop this year.
The green beans gave their all, which we enjoyed immensely, but we're still waiting on the scarlet beans. They may do no more than show off their beautiful red flowers.
Millie and the grrls wanted to say "hai"! Our poor chickengrrls have been picking on each other and molting to beat the band, but they're happy egg producers and for that we are grateful.

Love your Soul garden! And that sunflower against the sky! My Asian eggplants have been doing really well too as well as an odd chile pepper that I found called Cheyenne. It's a vining pepper that has tons of small conical shaped orange fruit. The heat is nice and not searing, great in marinades and salsas. Thanks for the chicken grrl photo. They do look pretty mangey when molting and suffering plummage ravaging by their sisters.

Oh, the colors! So beautiful! What wonderful treats from your garden . . . good for the Soul! :-) (Aren't scarlet runner beans the best -- to look at, anyway!) I was just thinking about Millie yesterday, and wondering how she and the grrls were doing this summer. Thanks for the update!

How wonderful!
I swear. No matter what the weather, there will always be (at least) one plant that will disappoint. I guess they can't all be happy at the same time. ;^)

Everything looks wonderful, including the molting chickengrrls. I love how clear everything seems. Enjoy while you got it, since we both know fall is slowly creeping in.

Oh, how beautiful your bounty!! I'm thankful for the more moderate weather.

Thanks for featuring your girls again! I am envious of how well your garden is doing; the weather this year has made for a sporadic veggie garden here, though the herbs, flowers and dye plants are thriving. I am hoping for a long, slow fall with similar temperatures to help make up for the late appearance of spring.

I'm just catching up from all the whirlwind craziness of my life, and love this post especially for mentioning ratatouille -- I have eggplants ready, and peppers and tomatoes, and haven't a clue why I haven't thought to make ratatouille... well, apart from the fact that I have had NO time to do ANY cooking. Yeah, there IS that.... :) XOXO

Mistress Margene, your garden doth grow!
Our tomatoes are STILL green. We had a glorious time visiting my brother and his wife's chickens a couple of weeks ago. My youngest is more determined than ever to get our homeowner's association to overturn their chicken rule. Her rationale, "They're a lot quieter than the neighbor's kids!"

Beautiful garden photos! I always love seeing the chickens, too.
