It's not that I want to wish my life away, but I am always happy to see the end of January. By mid-February the sun is high enough in the sky it can burn off the inversion and keep us from living in constant gray. February is cold, today is one of the coldest this winter, but it is also short. I'm a weather watcher, in case you didn't already know, but the weather is not the point of this blog post. You are! (Or maybe I am!)
Alta Utah Saturday evening
Little did I know, when I started this blog in 2004, I'd still be writing, picture taking, and sharing in 2011. I also didn't realize I was stepping into a community of people I'd come to know and love, despite the miles between us, even if we'd never met face to face.
The path has been been easy in some sections and very rocky in others. It's taken right turns and left turns, some I didn't see coming, and others I did. I'm quite awed and humbled to still be here, to call many of you friends and BFFs, and to continue on this path wherever it takes me (us).
None of us know what our futures hold (thank goodness!) and, if you've been with me awhile, you know more about me than I ever thought I'd share. The journey will continue for the time being. I've enjoyed sharing my days and my knitting with you. Thank you for being here.

I am glad to see January end this year as it has brought way too much cold and snow! Of course, February is starting out the same way. Sigh.
I am happy and thankful to be your friend!

Welcome February! :-) So glad to count YOU among my virtual friends. I look forward to "sharing" a cup of tea with you every morning. Thanks for being here, Margene!

And, you, ma'dear, have enriched my life in so many ways. I'm so glad you're my friend.

Thank YOU for being a friend! xo!

Congratulations! Clearly you are doing lots of things right to make it this far.
I'm glad you find the end of January so inspiring. To me the problems begin when the novelty of winter runs out, so late February is the worst. I'm no good at endings in any aspect of life, I guess! The ice storm predicted for tonight is not making this change of month any brighter.

Congrats on the milestone! And many, many thanks for the lovely sky. We had a gorgeous weekend, and warm (near 60), which has turned back to U-G-L-Y and chilly/damp. I suppose I shouldn't complain, but it does depress the spirits a bit. At least until someone you admire shows you pretty blue skies - hope on the horizon!!

Well said. I feel much the same about my own blog.
And yes, thank God it's February.

Thanks for continuing to do this. I, too, look forward to seeing Utah weather through your eyes, and enjoy your knitting adventures, your garden, and the chicken-grrls. I've been happy to lurk, and happy to comment, too.

And thanks to you as well. I have been enriched by your creativity, perspectives, and experiences. I feel blessed to count you among my friends - albeit via the internet!

I've been enjoying your more frequent posts and sure have enjoyed getting to know you -- and Utah -- over these past (almost) 7 years. Your wisdom, love and encouragement have helped to bolster and support me, and helped me grow. I feel quite lucky to have had the opportunity for a real live hug. I hope we'll have another!
Thank you, Margene!

I'm so blessed to count you as my "friend", Margene...even thought I'm thousands of miles away! My life has been so enriched by knowing you...your wisdom about life, love and knitting should be published in a book to share with the world!
Wishing you continued good health, peace, and happiness...today and always!

I've been lurking around your blog for sometime, you always have something warm to say even when the weather is not! You make my morning with coffee or tea far more enjoyable : )

I read your blog, but only comment infrequently. Keep it up, I enjoy it every morning. And the pictures of Utah are always beautiful.

You are a constant read on my list. Thank you for sharing your pictures, knitting, spinning and most of all your heart.

Margene, where would we be without your optimistic voice!
Beautiful shot of the mountains.

I do so enjoy your blog, all of it: the weather, the chickens, your thoughts on your knitting, etc.

Seems crazy to me that in the 5 years I lived in SLC I only crossed paths with you one time! (on the trail at silver lake, of all places!) Still, I feel that we are connected by our mutual love of the lake, the mountains and the FIBER! Keep posting, Margene!

Happy February! And even happier 1800. What would I have done if I hadn't found your blog?

Thank you for sharing with us! I always enjoy your beautiful mountains and skies, and your excellent pattern and yarn choices. Your versions often look better than the original pattern pictures to me!

so glad that you are a part of my world too. I don't know what I ever did without all of my knit/spin friends !

We love you, too, Sweetie.
Up here, February is the month where we lose all hope. It will always be cold and snowy and dark and cold and gray and gloomy and cold... If it wasn't a short month, we'd never get through it at all.
