There has been very little knitting going on the last week, but there has been a noteworthy event every day. Thursday we stopped by the garden to feed the chickengrrls and, while Smith poured a can of coffee grounds on the garden, I found a lovely surprise.
A bunch of tasty and beautiful radishes were popping from the ground, along with a few beets, and bunches of lettuce. Score!
On Christmas Eve we had a few minutes of bright sun in a sharp blue sky. Blue sky was short lived this weekend, but so was the snow and fog.
Christmas day Suzy and I played Scrabble, but enjoyed some yapping about yarn, too. We, Smith, Suzy and I, ate too much (drank too much), but had just the right amount of fun and laughter. The day was a blast.
The day after Christmas I ran stumbled through the house in search of a camera to capture a sunrise the color of fire. Wow!
To finish off the Holiday weekend...we fed our chickengrrls, gave them extra treats of lettuce and bread, which they repaid with hugs and pets (and eggs).
How was your Holiday weekend?

Sounds like a perfect, relaxing weekend. How awesome to find those veggies this late in the season!

Less relaxing, but just as enjoyable, sans chickengrrls. I did get fresh eggs for a Christmas pressie. Made me as happy as anything!!!!

That was a lovely weekend! Yummy radishes. I like what you do with the coffee grounds. (We compost ours, too. ANd the tea bags. ANd all the kitchen scraps that aren't meat or fat.)

What a perfect weekend! That sunrise is incredible. You were so lucky to be up -- and to find a camera in time -- to see it. (And those chickengrrls are just adorable!)

I love the veggie Christmas surprise! I'm glad your holiday was as it should be.

What a great find! I'm surprised the ground hasn't frozen. I too compost coffee grounds, tea leaves and all of the kitchen scraps minus meat and fat. It's difficult in the winter when nothing is really decomposing and the bin is full. I have started an open pile next to the original bin. Such a beautiful sunrise! We get those on occasion and they are such a treat.

Sounds like a wonderful holiday weekend for you. I was wondering how the chickengrrls and garden were doing.
Ours weekend was good, too. Friday was the big gathering to celebrate Christmas and the daughter's 22nd birthday. Saturday was snow for Christmas, and that was wonderful. We just stayed in and enjoyed the quiet.

Oh, that sounds fabulous! We finally got a Scrabble game and it's great fun. Hard to stay away from words of questionable character, though! ;o)

If you can spell "yarn", it's always a good scrabble game!

I can't believe you are still getting veggies! That is a pretty cool find.

Love the photos, especially some of the great scrabble words. We had a lovely time both with family and by ourselves, and in spite of cold, wet, gloomy weather. Happy New Year to you and Smith with another long weekend ahead.
