My co-workers are overly enthusiastic in their love of air condition. Why, must it be set at 60?! Isn't that's just a BIT too chilly? Dear friends, do you freeze in the grocery store, or a restaurant, like I do? In order to save myself from the frigid environs I keep a small shawl at the ready. They are a necessity during summer months and, since it's my lucky day (and yours), two designers have new publications coming out this year!
Miriam Felton is publishing a book of beautiful patterns (of all sorts), which she's making available in several ways. Read about it on her blog or Ravelry
. You can pre-order the print book or buy the patterns in three separate Collections on Ravelry. That's a very cool idea.
Speaking of cool ideas...Rosemary is publishing an eBook of 7 Small Shawl patterns. She's designing them all in 200 days, which means you can watch the progress/process happen on her blog. One shawl is available now, but each time another is ready you automatically get an update for your book! You can buy the shawls separately if you prefer.
As soon as my two current projects are finished I'm going to stick to my plan and start Hamamelis. Next in my queue is Fog Lifter and I will do my best to stay this path.
However, this gorgeous yarn just arrived from Kim and it could be a plan changer...isn't that always the way!?

I just finished my Hamamelis while road tripping. I'm looking forward to getting home for blocking. My husband has an A/C thing and I'm always bundled up in the house!

You can never have too many shawls!

Hamamelis is my next shawl, too. I also received a package from Kim this week with some blue yarn and a bag. I almost bought that bag but for some reason the one with the orange called out to me.
I share a room at work with a girl who turns her heater on every day, all day. She sit right under the thermostat so the air kicks in and I have cold air blowing on me all day long. I keep a fleece blazer type jacket at work and have it on almost all day, every day.
Have a nice weekend!

Thank you for the Shawl links! I wish I were one of those who preferred the warmer temps, but sadly I am one of those who loves it cold....it's that damn hot flash stage of life. I guess I am just a winter grrl at heart. ;-)
I can't wait to see what you do with the Pandora yarn. ;-)

Oh great. Kim yarn I have to get.....
Well, I love my shawls and do carry them around for the store and other air conditioned places, but with the hot flashes of late I love it. The colder the better. Which really only means that I am freezing on minute, throwing off the shawl and anything else I can the next, then pulling it all back on in the next minute. It is nice to have the cold air right there when I need it. ;)

I had already purchased Romi's ebook, finding that small shawls are the ones I turn to far more than larger ones. I am looking forward to Miriam's and very excited for her to be reaching this point! I guess I'm lucky to have more control over the air quality and not be frigid in summer. Good thing you have made so many:)

I want to start Hamamelis too! Hey, that first picture shows your pink shawl I knit for you! It's so nice to know that you like that shawl! Did you see that Ruth (Impulse of Delight) is having a sale? She will put more up on the sale page all this week I think.

Yes, they can get a bit ridiculous about the a/c sometimes. I love having a shawl with me for those times.
Oooh! Those lovely patterns are trying to jump the queue. I actually have plans for some of those, but I think Beach Glass might be next. Ah, but Hamamelis has been waiting for a while, too.

Amazingly I was advised by a holistic practictioner last year to wear scarves/shawls around my neck and shoulders, that being chilly was at the root of a lot of my troubles. I thought she was nuts. I didn't feel cold and I had long hair shielding me from drafts, but dang if she wasn't correct! I started keeping something in my purse and using it whenever I was in public all summer and all winter I kept something around my neck and it has made a huge difference. Shawls and scarves are being knit a lot more around these parts now :-)

such a timely post (and an untimely comment). I'm really feeling the pull of shawls and lace right now but I must finish a certan so first that I'm knitting in Kim's yarn. It's really good stuff isn't it.
