Friday afternoon, as soon as I arrived home from work, we jumped in the car and headed up the canyon. The weather was beautiful and we decided to take advantage of every minute of the weekend.
The aspen forest has just started to green, the meadow grasses peek through the winter brown, and the wildflowers were either non-existent or only tiny sprouts. However, we did spot, for the first time ever, a small patch of glacier lilies.
We heard a variety of birds, saw squirrel here and there, and very few people.
It was a perfect way to start the weekend.
Absolutely perfect!! I am envious!!

We did the same kind of thing yesterday. Although the scenery, the trees, the birds and the flowers are very different, the feeling is the same. Thanks for the beautiful photographs.

It's gorgeous! But I think I'll wait a few weeks before heading up there, and give the last of that snow a chance to melt.

How wonderful - especially the "very few people" part which is what really makes a getaway perfect for me. Glad to hear the weather is warming - I was ready to ship you some good old Ohio heat&humidity. ;-)
