It's definitely doable. I learned to cook GF for a friend some time back. Now you just need to see if Chris will ship you some of that GF pizza.

I hear you! I felt the same way when I realised that I was lactose intolerant about a year ago and removed most of the lactose from my diet. Now I don't feel gassy and bloated and queasy all the time.

It is such a relief to get a diagnosis that makes sense! This is a good thing. Hugs to you!

What Sandy said - finding the cause is wonderful and is also step 1 to feeling better. Here's to good health!

Glad they were able to figure out something that makes you feel better!

Take good care of yourself, Margene. My mom had the same disease, so I know what it entails. Hope the diet will soon make you feel better.

Welcome! I'm glad you can already tell that you're feeling better.

I had a friend diagnosed with that (and lactose intolerance) at about age 50. She said she has felt so much better the last 2 years, it is like being 10 years younger! ;^) I recently discovered a tasty cookie recipe that meets the requirements. Let me know if you'd like a copy.

It must feel good to finally know why you have not felt as well as you should. Yay for finding the answer!

are there hyvee grocery stores out there? i had a coworker with celiac's, and she said their dietician was immensely helpful. they also have a considerable selection of GF foods. also, a friend who blogs has it as well. her blog is www.yarnivorous.blogspot.com, and she talks about going GF some times.

Sorry you haven't been feeling well. It nice that you have found out what you have and can move on.
Good luck with your diet!

Shelley in Idaho recently tested negative, so you might be getting a package from her of all the gluten-free goodies I found in my local store. Bob's Red Mill has quite a few products. Glad you are feeling better! (A trip to New Hampshire last weekend REALLY would have made you feel better!)

My good friend also has celiac, and it really is an easy groove to get into w.r.t. cooking. You'll definitely feel better! Just watch those places it sneaks in where you'd least expect it - some vinegar, enchilada sauce... be sure to take your magnifying glass with you to the store so you can see those itty-bitty food labels. :)

So glad you've found a diagnosis and are feeling better! Your brother too :)

I'm glad you're guts feelign better. My co-worker was diagnosed a couple of years ago. She's a picky eater so she doesn't really miss the gluten. Plus, living in the city, most restaurants are starting to offer gluten-free dishes. Besides, I love celebrating her birthday becasue we get to have ice-cream instead of cake!

So glad you figured out what is going on. That's more than half the battle. Also glad that you are feeling better.

My daughter was diagnosed about 2 years ago. I'll send you an email with some great local and online resources - including gluten-free pizza from Pier 49 downtown! Even though it takes some time to adapt - its nice to finally have an answer. Take care.

many food producers , like Kraft; can give you a listing of their foods that are gluten free.
a happy gut is a calm gut

I highly recommend the book "babycakes", vegan and gluten-free dessert recipes. My family is neither vegan nor gluten-free, but the banana bread passed the family test.
