Sadly, the Cedar Creek socks didn't make the grade. The pattern was one of the most tedious ever and while I thought I would/could stick it out, it didn't fit my foot! No fit, must frog. Hopes of showing off this pair in the pansy patch were dashed, but I loves the colorway and didn't want to give up entirely...so, back to the tried and true...the ubiquitous (and one of my faves) the Monkey.
It's been rainy and dreary this week, but Sunday looks nice. May you have a delightfully springy weekend no matter what you do.

Aha. Monkeys in pansies. It works.

Happy Weekend/Passover/Easter. Love you new Monkeys. Perfect amount of variegation in the yarn. Great stripes!

I do remember that sock fit...um... snuggly. It looks great as a Monkey sock tho!
Send some of that nice weather this way, please!

The Cedar Creek looked pretty, but without a good fit it doesn't matter, does it? You can't go wrong with the Monkey's. Look fab, feel great. Happy weekend, Easter, Passover to you, Sweetie!

Looks great as a Monkey, too!

I've had Monkey on my list since Cookie published it, but haven't yet made them because as written they'll be too big. So I need to do a little recalculating. Does the pattern give you a fabric that's stretchy or no? Maybe knowing that would get me off my butt and actually knit them.
It's such a great pattern and I LOVE the colorway you're using!

I liked the first pattern, but if it's not fun to knit and doesn't fit, then you did the right thing.
I don't think you could go wrong with that yarn in any pattern. It is scrumptious!

The yarn is beautiful in both patterns but it needs to be fun, too, so Monkeys are a great choice. Have a good weekend.

Twisty little stitches, while gorgeous, are indeed slow going and tight fitting. Monkey looks like a good choice. Have a great weekend!

The new sock looks good. You've got to go with what you know will fit. We're getting your rain on Sunday.

Thanks for the heads-up on the Cedar Creek pattern. I went over to Ravelry to check it out, and made myself a note to give it a pass.

Yeah, we likes monkeys better than muddy old creeks, anyway! Good call. Wish I could have pansies.....deer food in our neck of the woods. All the good stuff is deer food.....

Oooh, I love that yarn in the monkeys. Hey, hey, it's the monkeees.... (ohgod, why did I do that?!) Hee.

You should have those Monkeys done in no time!

The monkeys are still pretty and you're right, they're of no use if they they don't fit!

Heh - I remember feeling the same way about the Cedar CCreek pattern. Sadly - they are still sitting on needles. But maybe......

I really should try knitting Monkey one of these days - love the colors in that yarn.

That yarn will look great as a pair of Monkeys. Such a fabulous pattern! Have a great weekend.

Love those Monkeys! Hope your w/e is wonderful, also.

I think the Monkey suits the colorway better. As you always say "It's the process". I often think of you when I'm at that critical point in my knitting of whether to continue onward on possibly a mistake, or frog and find the right thing for the yarn, or knitting mojo. Your attitude to doing the right thing with your knitting and yarn, helps me out numerous times. When I ignore it, it is usually to my regret.
You have great knitting integrity.

monkey is like comfort knitting!

Norma may be evil. Now I've got that stupid song in my head.
I'm sorry the sock didn't fit, but I'm glad you found out before you were done with the knitting.

I tried Monkey socks once, but felt that the gauge was too loose for my personal taste. Then again, almost all sock patterns are knit at too loose a gauge for my taste! We'll blame my guild for that.

Oh, the comfort of the Monkey (or if you're really feeling lazy, the no-purl Monkey!). Every time I get caught up in a pattern that's just not working out like I hoped, I always ask myself, "Why didn't I do the Monkey?"
Happy weekend!

Well, shoot! I think you did the best thing under the circumstances, including returning to a pattern you know you will love to knit. Hope you have a lovely spring weekend, no matter the weather.
