Time (Do We Ever Have Enough?)
Today is the first day of August. That fact amazes me as I'm sure it does you. How could the days of summer disappear so quickly? Daylight hours are noticeably shorter and being a morning person I love waking to the light of early dawn. I miss the morning light more than the extra time at the end of the day.
I'm still feeling very behind in chores/life/stuff that needs to be done. It's my own fault. There are few reasons I would SnB night and this week I went out twice. The new LYS in town, Blazing Needles, has Knit Night on Thursday evening and, because Shelley was going, I decided to check it out, too. It was fun to knit, chat, and sip a bit of wine while in the company of many friends. It was a perfectly lovely evening. So, because I insist on living outside the blog (from time to time) there isn't much here to show you today. Next week should be quiet, I'll be caught up and there will be knitting to share.
With a nod to Terry and Cindy, who often have their own YouTube days, here is a rockin' version of Visions of Johanna (perhaps my most favorite song ever).
In honor of Kim's Flower Friday (are you coming back soon, Kim?) here is a photo of an Agapanthus from the Berkeley Campus. It was quite wonderful to see bed after bed full of purple blossoms.

Next week I promise pictures of Salina as the photo shoot in Berkeley didn't live up to expectations.
Enjoy your weekend and make the most of the summer days we have left!

You are a tough judge! Two shoots, just to get the right pix!

The darker mornings make me want to stay in bed longer..which is totally against my grain..I'm also early to rise~

I too lament the start of August- I love my light and just want summer to last longer. A shorter winter would help too. Just saying.

I was just saying to Grover this morning. It looks more and more like fall. Heavy fog in the predawn light. Sheesh. I haven't heard Visions of Johanna in years. Thanks. It was terrific!!!Oh, and the lack of blogging material? I hadn't noticed. Sometimes it's nice just to chat, don't you think?

I have mixed feelings about it being August. I'm happy because in August we go on vacation to Cape Cod but I'm sad because August means summer is winding down. Time to enjoy every minute of it!

I like waking up to the sunrise rather than a blaring alarm. It's so much easier. :D Have a great weekend Margene. xoxo

I'm excited to hear about the new yarn shop.

I'm the other way around. It's those evening hours of sunlight that I start missing right after the summer solstice.

Yes, love the very early morning light, being up early with it and enjoying the peace and quiet.
August, hot as hell here.
Having grown up with Dylan... it'd be hard to pick a favourite but Norma's post this morning has one particular song in my head... 'Idiot Wind', which is one of my all time favourites.

Hi Margene...I'm back! It never seems as though there is enough time does it? So much to do in so little time.
My Ashley is a HUGE Dylan fan. She saw him in concert last year...front row seats.
I'm looking forward to getting caught back up with everyone :)

We think alike, on my way to work today I was thinking wow its August aready. And then I noticed also that it wasn't as light at 6.00am. I'm total not ready for summer to end, hopefully August will go really slow Ha,Ha!!!

I can't believe how fast the summer had flown by. I don't think I'm quite ready for it to be fall yet!

Wait! It's August!? Man, I have a LOT of summering left to do. Have a fun weekend!

No. Never enough time. My alarm goes off at 5:15a and I have been noticing the change in the light -- specifically, the lack of -- I finally had to admit that it wasn't just one cloudy morning after another.
Happy Weekend Margene!!

Living outside the blog is highly recommended!! Have a great weekend!

Technically, we have seven weeks of official summer left, but I've got to say that summer is not my favorite season. I'm looking forward to September when I can actually work in the garden and knit on the porch! How is Blazing Needles?

I wanted to go to the new Knit Night, but had other obligations last night. I might check it out next week, though.

You have a life outside of your blog?!

It's August???

It's amazing how quickly the days get shorter, isn't it? *sigh*

I'm happy it's August so we can get it over with! For us Southerners, that's what we do - suffer through it and long for days with a cool breeze and that your hair doesn't frizz up the second you walk outdoors. Yes, fall is on the way and for that, I'm thankful it's August.
I thought your Salina pictures were great, but it's YOUR sweater, so you can judge!

August already! Wow...and I'm starting to think of cold weather...socks and shawls and maybe even a sweater?
Beautiful flower photo!
(((hugs)))

You're a morning person? Oh my...
Why can't you take us along with you when you're out having a life? Or are you a spy in your off the blog hours and can't talk about it? Because that would explain it.
Happy Weekend, Margene.

What a lovely shade shade of blue.

My 20 year old nephew, who is currently in North Carolina on an LDS mission, is one of the biggest Bob Dylan fans ever. A gentlemen he met in NC took him to an old record store and bought him several old, classic, Dylan LP's. He was in heaven! Just goes to show that the real classics never go out of style.

Living life. Yes. It's good. Do it!

I do feel a bit cheated by this year's summer, being pinned inside by the smoke for so many weeks, and finding it August... there is still a lot of fun planned for August, though. Thanks for the agapanthus photo; they are everywhere in Sacramento, where I grew up, and I wish I could grown them here.

I am actually ECSTATIC that this summer is ending. It hasn't been a stellar one.

I would say you're lucky to notice a change of seasons when August rolls around but I suppose "lucky" is all in the eye of the beholder.
Here in Kansas we still have at least a month of summer remaining and even when September arrives it's often still in the 90's. I've known a few times when August in Kansas was 30 days of 100+ degree temperatures. Bleh.
I need to reply to your last email - too many days go by and time slips away.... How DOES that happen? :) XOXOXOXOX
