This Could be an "R is for..." Post...but it Isn't

It took me one full day and two nights of good deep sleep to recover from all the fun of last week.  Keeping up with Norma and 6 to 8 other friends is a bit tiring, but it was so much fun it was worth every tired bone in my body.  We tried to do everything a visitor would want to do and yet, there were a couple of things we missed, a good reason for Norma to return!  KimG will be back soon for the Great Basin Fiber Festival in October and it will be wonderful to see her, along with dear friend Judy.  Anyone else want to come to Utah? Now that I'm recovered, recuperated and refreshed I'm ready again.

This weekend was the opposite of last and I did a load of relaxing (between loads of laundry and loads of knitting).  Smith and I found another colorful Mexican restaurant to love and enjoy. To make it even better, it's very near our home.  They have the best fish tacos I've ever eaten and it was a delightful evenings entertainment to sit on their patio and enjoy a yummy meal.

Summer's end may be near as Tuesday as there will be bit of fall in the air (from what we've been told). However, after the last two days of temps near 100, one cannot complain, eh? And, because the days of summer are limited we headed to Silver Fork (you can never have too much of a good place) and Silver Lake (its beauty is never ending). I never tire of taking pictures of this lovely place and I hope you don't get tired of seeing them.

There wasn't a hint of a color change in the leaves, but it won't be too long before its there, Silver Lake is at 8,750 feet, you know.

Just as we were leaving we spotted a moose in the willows. It was an immature calf so the mother must have been near by, but well hidden by the willows.  It's the time of year the young plants make good eating and the moose to bulk up for the winter ahead.

As we enjoyed a lovely stroll around the lake (just as we usually do) a few beautiful pictures were collected for the Saturday Sky Saturdays to come (you'll need to come back and see). Because sitting at the computer time was limited I'm leaving you with that.  I'd love to hear what your weekend was like, there must be preparations for school going on for many of you.
Happy Monday!

Thank you for that tasty bit of menu planning...in looking at the Mexican menu, I remembered I have more of a batch of carne adovada in the freezer I made last month when pork was on sale...DH loves it with eggs and torillas (flour, not corn...but how are the white corn tortillas???)...off to make breakfast now...

Oh- yer killin' me! I keep telling everyone that what I am really craving/missing whilst here is Mexican food, and fish tacos are one of my favs. Followed by Chicken mole... Yumm. And tell Betsy that the white corn tortillas are the BEST!!!

Great view... as always! Thanks for sharing!

So lovely, Margene, and the moose is priceless! My weekend was all about soccer - first tournament of the year. So I was a devoted soccer mom, and didn't get much else done!

Sounds like a lovely weekend. We were at the Cape this weekend with friends. Lots of natural beauty.

A moose? Thank you so much for the beautiful pic of the moose. Our only moose is a dog named Grover;-) Your weekend sounds lovely. School has been in session here for two weeks already. Poor kids have suffered through some big heat so far (their classrooms have a/c). Our weekend was extremely humid and warm, so I cleaned and did laundry.

Our school started this morning. DH is a school bus driver who loves his bus and his kids, along with his turkey trail of a route. He takes a 72 passenger bus on dirt and 1 1/2 lane macadam roads to pick up students while viewing deer, turkey and this year a rumored black bear.

I wish I could come to Utah again for the Great Basin Fiber Festival, but alas I will have to settle for seeing you in Rhinebeck......but there's always next year :)

That mountain/sky shot is stunning! Amazing how big an immature moose is, isn't it?

It was 48F as I was driving to work this morning...

Thanks for the view of your mountains! I never tire of them. This weekend was cooking lunch for 9 men on Saturday from my husband's work participating in their annual Fantasy Football league draft, shuttling older son to soccer try-outs, and getting my daughter ready for this Saturday's move-in to college. I fit in some spinning too outside- the weather was too ice to be indoors. The mosquitos became a problem after a while. Spinning while killing mosquitos is quite an art lol!

How do you know it was an immature calf - did he moon you??!!! Mwaaaahhhhh haaaa haaa!!

I love fish tacos - can we go there next time I visit? And please, let's see a moose, too!

I always enjoy the Silver Lake pictures. 8,750 feet is HEAVEN. Here in Louisiana they chose the spot for the Exxon refinery because it was at the high point near the Mississippi River - 40 whole feet!

I've seen that restaurant before, yep its by our old,old house. The one before the last! Don't you just love moose?

That's a very cool moose shot. I never get tired of your Silver Lake pictures.

Silver Lake? Is it, perchance, the same Silver Lake that Laura Ingalls Wilder writes about in (oddly enough) On the Shores of Silver Lake? How cool, if so.

Mmmm. Fall. I can't wait.

It is still very warm here (
Albuqueruqe), too, but for some reason I am also feeling fall coming on.

What a nice weekend and how exciting to see a moose!

I'm glad you finally got out to Lone Star! (I can't believe it took you THIS long.) Good to hear that you're finally feeling rested up.

I second Cindy - I prefer flour tortillas, but good white corn tortillas are lovely.
Sigh - autumn? what is that?

a baby moose - cool.
I am sooo ready for autumn - this 100 degrees one day and a rainy 50 the next is for the birds. At least autumn around here is normally spectacular.

YOU SAW A MOOSE! I swear, they must be afraid of me. I have yet to see one EVER.

R is for Recovery? That would be a good one. Take as many pix as you like: I love them all, almost as much as I love the quazillion pix I've taken of Rangeley.

(I can't believe I'm all caught up on ABCs, and I have R and S already in mind. After that it gets tricky again. T is for Tricky?)

Beautiful! Can't wait to see the rest of the pics!

Oh, I wish... My next trip is definitely in a westerly direction!

From all you've shared of your visitors and your 'PHUN' weekend..you have reason to use the R-word..even for rejuvenate, which looks as if you've done a good job of doing~
Love the Moose and of course all of your photos!! Thanks for sharing~

This is the third blog I've seen today with a MOOSE on it! What's with that? lolol
Gorgeous photos, of course, and so glad you're recovered! You bounce back quicker than I do...
((hugs))

I am so impressed that you've already recovered from all the Norma excitement. I think it would take me much longer. Then again, I don't have your wonderful views or moose.

Some of the trees in my neighborhood are starting to blush. I was astonished to see it happening so soon! Yours can't be far behind, surely.

I think this was a banner year for moose, at least in Zeneedle territory! Didn't you once post about how elusive they were? I could swear I remember reading something like that.

NOW the moose shows up! :)

My weekend was the end of the Ravelympics.

Oh, I want to come and see a moose!

I want to come visit so badly when I see these types of pictures!
