Spring is Here - Walk With Me Wednesday
It's finally here and it's finally stuck in place, I do believe…I do. There may be days when the cold returns again, but that doesn't mean it's able to hang around. Spring rules from here on out and the pictures from a walk around the neighborhood tells the story.
For the next several months any pictures of the mountains will contain green trees. No bones of branches, no skeletal remains, the trees will wear a lush coat of green.
Every color of flower imaginable is now if full bloom. It's so wonderful to see the bright yellows, purples, reds, and pink of short lived flowers. The Japanese maple on the corner of my building shimmers with the bright red of new leaves and a canopy of pink pom-poms is filling in above my head as I walk under a favorite tree.

The flowers become so puffy and full that as the canopy fills in it casts a pink shadow which is really quite amazing.
The lilacs were slightly damaged by the last snow, but enough of the blossoms have opened to scent the air as we walk by. If that isn't the scent of true spring, nothing is.
Socks have always been my thing, but since the Sock Mojo is on hiatus, I've become a scarf knitter. It isn't that I don't like scarves, I'd just rather wear a piece of lace to keep me warm, but there are so many wonderful patterns and it feels right to have a scarf on my needles, just now. Persephone was so much fun that I cast on for Japanese Vines and Lace Ribbon. The colors of Japanese Vines reminds me of the colors of Spring and so it has become my fall back knitting. She grows daily and we're working together towards blossom time. The Artyarn Ultra Merino 4 is soft, squooshy and fun to knit, plus it came from my stash...always a good thing.
Due to circumstances beyond control, Claudia and her good man will not be able to ride their tandem bike in this years MS ride. However, that doesn't mean we can't raise enough dough, as in $$$$, to make next year another #1 year for them! Let's do it folks. Claudia will start the prize parade on her blog today and you can go HERE to get the donations rolling!

Scarf mojo works! That Kwanzan cherry is exquisite (great macro).
We will catapult Claudia into her accustomed stratosphere. And send healing wishes to her Mister.

I love all the colors of spring! Are scarves the new socks?

The annual return of Spring is such a treasure! Even though she is a tease along the way.
Have fun with your scarf knitting!

Your flowers are gorgeous. I love your pink tree. Is it a tulip tree? And, an outside shot of your Japanese vines scarf? How cool is that. What a lovely spring post. Yup. Spring has finally made her way to you and she's here to stay!

Bummer about Claudia's Mister.
I am extremely happy spring is here. We rode last night without having to be bundled up in fleece and/or coats and gloves and hats. Nice!

Yay for scarves! As you know, I'm a big fan of the scarf. They just fit in with my wardrobe much better than big lace triangles or whatever. :D
And YAY for spring!!!

It looks like that here too, finally, although we don't have any beautiful scarves hanging from our trees in Connecticut! But, on my way to the store yesterday, I drove through a "snowstorm" of white petals....that's the kind of snowstorm I can handle!

I always enjoyed spring in Utah when I lived there. I'm thinking I need to go back for a visit.

Gorgeous scarf! Can you believe I have no lace on the needles at the moment... maybe later today. Something about finishing projects.... crazy notion.

That pink tree is stunning. And I love the new scarf -- but, I am more partial to knitting scarves than socks.

Pretty pictures! Scarves are all the warmth really needed over here. I guess that's why I like them so much. Japanese Vines is gorgeous.

I love the picture of you tempting Stephanie with your trunk o' fiber goodies over at Yarn Harlot. :)

Wow - you are so far ahead of us spring-wise. Would that normally be the case or between Minnesota and Utah or is our spring just freakishly out of whack this year?
Posted by: deb | May 07, 2008 at 11:48 AM
Hey! Saw you on The Yarn Harlot's site! Cool.

Spring is always worth the wait, and short-lived and suddenly it ends up being summer... we are already starting to see patches of brown grass at the low elevations, but the wildflowers at the middle slope were wonderful the other day... at least I can keep moving up the mountains, following spring! Your project really does mimic the beauty of lilacs, which never last long enough for me, and will brighten dull winter days next year.
