R & R
This is the view yesterday (at dawn) from the window of Neena's guest room. The clouds had a pink lining and the sky had a bit of pink, too. It looked like a seashell.
The trip was relaxing, beautiful, with blue skies and the warmth I so craved. I came home to a very cold, wet snowy day in the SLC Valley that didn't even reach 40 degrees. Winter seems to have a death grip on so many parts of the country.
I did no knitting, no blog reading, no email...nothing but visit, eat, drink and enjoy the views of So. Utah. It was heaven. I also got my new Keen's very dusty, which was a nice christening, don't you think?
Friday the day started by rushing Moxie to the vet at 6:00am because he had broken his stitches and the wound was agape! He spent the day there, had the old almost healed wound cut away and restitched. He will now be relegated to wearing his cone head attire and he is very unhappy about that. However, I'm not spending more money and time waiting for this wound to heal. He's fine, if subdued. It's only a week and he'll survive (even if he tells you otherwise).
The spinning class with Celia Quinn was wonderful, so full of information, and I came away with a head swimming with facts and new ideas. Emmylou and I hope to start a new project soon with renewed interest and a fresh start.
Tomorrow is the start of Project Spectrum Elements - Earth Edition and so, that's when I'll share pictures of my trip to Zion. The pictures make a very appropriate kick off, just as this photo is a perfect way to end the "Fire Edition". From Filmore Utah...isn't it breathtaking?

Stunning skies, yes!
Moxie will learn to live with it...most creatures adapt.

Oh poor Moxie! Poor you! Your photos are stunning, mother nature may be playing cold tunes, but she's sure giving a great color show!

Sounds like Moxie has been taking lessons from the kitty over at Sknitty. I hope he heals quickly and can stop wearing the collar soon. And I'm so glad you had a restful weekend. I'm sure the pictures will be gorgeous, I can't wait to see them.

I know some cats who would sympathize with Moxie (from a safe distance). Sounds like a great weekend, and your pix are breathtaking as always.

The pictures are so beautiful. Poor little Moxie. Poor Mom and Dad. You sound rested and wonderful. What a great idea and a terrific sis.

GORGEOUS skies! Poor Moxie. The damn cone. Did the police ever find the perps?
We've got high winds here today. The temps are supposed to get up near 40, but it feels piercing because of the wind. Sigh.

UGH--not the cone again! I'm sure you all will be happy when the week's done. :)

Glad you were able to relax (the Moxie incident not withstanding) and awfully sorry you came back to the current weather system. :( Blech.

That fire sky photo is incredible!! Poor Moxie...give him a big hug!
Posted by: Kim | March 31, 2008 at 06:43 AM
Sounds like a great weekend! Too bad it started with panic, poor Moxie. But cone it is! If he can't know what is good for him.
Posted by: Teresa C | March 31, 2008 at 06:51 AM
Your weekend sounds lovely (except for Moxie; I think they adjust sort of quickly if not begrudgingly) and just pretty perfect. Nice to get a break from everything and just enjoy!
Posted by: Cynthia | March 31, 2008 at 07:00 AM
What a gorgeous picture! Sounds like an extremely restorative weekend.
Hang in there, Moxie! You'll be out of the cone in no time.
Posted by: Chris | March 31, 2008 at 07:08 AM
Well, on the plus side, Moxie will have some awesome scars to show his buddies. Guys like scars.
The photos are so beautiful. Looking forward to the Earth series.

Oh, goodness, Moxie! Yer freaking us all out!
And yes, the photos are beautiful. We have only gray and rain, so I'll have to live through you and your sunsets.

Death grip is indeed the appropriate wording.

I've never seen skies like the ones in Utah...always spectacular from north to south and east to west! I KNEW you would love Celia...now you have to find a class with Judith! Glad you got some rest and restoration!

Beautiful pictures! Can't wait for more. We've never really explored So. Utah, only driven through it quickly once on our way to Colorado. Really must visit before our company paid trips to Utah come to an end.

sending good thoughts to your sweet Moxie!

Aww Poor little Mox. That little SchnoopyDoopy. (oh, sorry - can't resist) Silly boy, that cone is just what he deserves. They feel so abused under those conditions, don't they? ha It'll be over and done soon enough.
Sounds like your weekend was very much like Carole's.... a breath of renewal and a sigh of contentment. Ahhhhhh. :)

I'm so glad you got to take a workshop with Celia. She is wonderful;we learned so much from spinning so many fibers in her class.
Your pics are stunning! Keep them coming..........

What beautiful sky-scapes. There is something about the desert sky. I'm so happy to hear you had a relaxing weekend. I thought of you often and wished for some recuperation. :D

Those really are some stunning skies. Just gorgeous!

Ooh, what a fiery end after a lovely, delicate pastel seashell beginning to the post.
Now time to get grounded, eh?
Moxie, this too shall pass. So say we all, about winter too (thunderstorms today, but an inch of snow following that tonight is what they're saying.... out like a lion indeed! I don't even remember the beginning of March, it's just been winter forever.

Oh, Moxie... the shame and humiliation! :-( But you're right, his dignity will return eventually. Poor boy.
I thought you'd be away longer than that. But even a quick getaway can be refreshing, especially with a view like that out the window. :-)

Poor Moxie! And yes, he'll live no matter what he tells us.
(((((hugs)))))

It sounds like your weekend was just what you needed! Gentle hugs to Mox and thanks for the wonderful sky photos.

Happy you found some relaxation..so sorry about Poor Little Moxie..but he's a fighter and will be just fine..
I had a dear old cat once that had skin cancer on his nose..and after surgery, he was required to wear the cone..trust me, happy he wasn't..but he survived that ordeal..won't share the rest of the story..he was the BEST kitty ever~

Beautiful skies, I'm sure the pictures are just a hint of how they really felt looking at them. Pats to Moxie, poor little boo. Sending you sunshine from the California desert...

It sounds like a nice relaxing get away.I hope the weather warms up for you soon. Ours a bit back and forth right now but that's to be expected this time of year.
Your photos are gorgeous and I hope Moxie feels better soon!

Beautiful photos! I'm sorry you're still waiting for spring. I promise, it's coming. We had a nice "springy" day with tornadoes today in Missouri. I guess it's that time of year again!

I'm glad you had such a good visit with your sister. It sounded very relaxing. Poor Moxie-moo. He might have to wear the cone for a bit, but he'll make it. Week's almost done now, anyway.
