Coming Back to Life
My immune system sucks...it seems to have abandon me and taken a holiday this year. The last few days I've been too ill to think, to write, and yes, even to knit. Monday I thought I might die, yesterday I knew I'd live. Improvement has come rather quickly. There is an ABC Along post almost ready to go (because I worked on it last weekend) and only if improvement continues will there be another post this week.
Let's finish up some movie business. Amazingly, many of you knew the movie quotes from my list, however there is one quote that no one knew. I asked several people if they'd even heard of the movie, and no one had. It's obviously a sleeper, but one you should see.
The movie is Smoke.
Quote: If you can't share your secrets with your friends then what kind of friend are you? (Smoke -1995)
Hopefully tonight I'll feel like picking up the knitting needles again as I'd like to cast on for Miriam's new scarf, Persephone. The pattern was part of the last fiber from Wooly Wonka's Exotic Fiber Club. Since it will be awhile before there will be a chance to spin up the luscious angora/silk I've opted for Judy's new yarn. Persephone will be available mid-April and if you've been waiting for Aspen Grove the wait is over.
Can you see the subtle color changes in the yarn? It's rather exciting to start something new. (You don't need to remind me just how many things are already on my needles. Thank you very much.)
Well, that's all I've got in me for today. I'll be back!

I hope you are feeling 100% very soon.
It has certainly been a hard start to the year health-wise.. and I say bah humbug to that. May the rest of the year be filled with blissful contentment and good health.
Judy's new yarn is gorgeous!

Feel Better - this winter has really hit a lot of people hard health wise. That yarn is what must be making you feel better!

Oh dear, I'm sorry. The body seems to not take a joke after a serious illness. Plz, if this doesn't go away fast, get checked out. It's been a miserable winter.
I love Persephone and jumped up and down when I got it. Nice yarn choice. Judy does fabulous work. The silky angora will be a relatively slow spin, so you are smart.

I hope today is much better for you. It's not like you to have so many projects going, though. Maybe you can blame your immune system!
Posted by: Carole | March 26, 2008 at 04:52 AM
I sure hope you're on the road to recovery. If you're looking to new projects, that's a good sign. oxo

I am finding the way to health a longer road as I ripen. Your spirits are good and you'll beat this, too, but don't you just want to scream(except for that lack of energy thing?). Oh, and as far as I know, you don't have anything but socks on the needles, right?

I missed you yesterday and worried a bit. I am glad to see you back today....
Working on Mim's new scarf should help make you smile...it is SO lovely!

I loved Smoke; I didn't recognize the quote though. Have you seen Blue in the Face, the follow up? That Paul Auster is such a good writer.
I'm glad you're feeling better!

You need spring! Feel better!
Posted by: ruth | March 26, 2008 at 06:18 AM
Not again! Lets hope this is the last time this year you're knocked off your feet by an illness. Rest up and come back later when you feel better.

I was sick a couple of weeks ago as well. Yuck, yuck, yuck. Hope you are totally well soon and -that yarn is loverly!

I'm glad you're feeling better and hope you'll be back to normal in no time! I do love the subtle colors of that yarn.
Posted by: Chris | March 26, 2008 at 06:34 AM
Boy, health will really feel good when you get there, won't it? But I can see your optimism in every new project on the needles.
Posted by: Teresa C | March 26, 2008 at 06:48 AM
Sick again?? I'm so sorry! I'm putting the tea kettle on right now for you.
Posted by: Chris | March 26, 2008 at 06:52 AM
My fingers are crossed (and maybe a little voodoo thrown in for good measure) for a speedy recovery, Dear Heart. Isn't Judy's new yarn pretty?!
Posted by: Norma | March 26, 2008 at 06:56 AM

Boy, we've got to find you something to boost your immunity...Margene not knitting?! Heresy! Seriously, eat those red and yellow veggies and get lots of omega-3 oil! Hope spring brings better health!
Posted by: Marcia Cooke | March 26, 2008 at 07:43 AM
Margene,
Feel better soon or seek a reason for the continued outbursts of feeling poorly..
I experienced this sort of thing several years ago..literally lived on antibiotics..too find I had severe allergies to most things I had daily contact with..including my cat and dog.
You're too energetic to have this keep returning..find the reason my friend~

Keep your chin up - with spring in the air, I know you'll be feeling back to your old self quickly!!
Did Mim not do another absolutely stellar job with that pattern? Oy - the girl pains me.
Posted by: Anne | March 26, 2008 at 07:50 AM
I loved the pattern too, but I have too many projects on the needles and I need to pare down. The yarn looks beautiful but the link wasn't working. I hope you feel better soon. I've been sick a lot and I've finally made a drs. appointment for this afternoon.
Posted by: Jenny | March 26, 2008 at 08:36 AM
Gosh, I'm so sorry that you are sick. Been there done that. I can now see how the flu could possibly kill someone ; )
Take care. Drink tea. Curl up.

You tell that immune system of yours that it had better behave or else!!!
Posted by: scoutj | March 26, 2008 at 08:46 AM
Here's hoping you feel better soon! Real spring weather is just around the corner and always seems to bring a bit of boost to the immune :)
Posted by: michelle | March 26, 2008 at 09:02 AM
Maybe it's spring allergies? We're all suffering here. I hope you feel better soon!
Posted by: elizabeth | March 26, 2008 at 09:14 AM
It's good to hear that you're feeling better. And who cares how many projects you have on the needles! Knit on!
Posted by: Cheryl S. | March 26, 2008 at 09:20 AM
hope you feel better...Smoke is a great movie--I actually bought a copy of it a couple years ago. It has a great bunch of actors...well anyway, I agree that people should see it.
Posted by: aelith | March 26, 2008 at 09:21 AM
Oy, that's too bad you were sick again, I hope you will be healthy again and soon! I love Smoke, I saw it more than once and the sequel too, I am just not good with quotes.
Posted by: Rachel | March 26, 2008 at 09:37 AM
Sorry you've been sick again. Take your nice vitamins, now.
Posted by: Tan | March 26, 2008 at 09:39 AM
Ugh, so sorry you've been ill again! And too sick to knit, what a waste of some good free time. Feel better soon!
Posted by: Margaret | March 26, 2008 at 09:49 AM
I have to chime in in agreement with Laurie and Dianne. Please go get seen soon and find out why this keeps returning. Feel better soon grrlfriend!
Posted by: Manise | March 26, 2008 at 10:03 AM
I hope you were merely indulging in a bit of hyperbole re: Monday. That's what I'd normally assume... but this has not been a normal year, has it? :-(
Posted by: Beth S. | March 26, 2008 at 10:45 AM
Feel better. It's awful seeing you so down so much this year.
Posted by: Hillary | March 26, 2008 at 11:49 AM
I am so sorry to hear you're under the weather again. Please hurry up and get better soon. I missed you at knitting last night. Love your newest project. You are an inspiration to me.

I adore that yarn with every fiber (pun intended) of my being.
Feel better.
(We knew Smoke, but only because we looked it up.)

I'm so glad you're going to live. I hope you keep feeling better and better and that you're taking care of yourself over there.
Posted by: Cookie | March 26, 2008 at 01:45 PM
Hope you are resting... I wish I knew where we could get cheap immune system fixes. I love the yarn and thought about starting Persephone when my package arrived, but have started on Flutter instead.... spring certainly calls for one or the other of Mim's sweet little scarves.
Posted by: Birdsong | March 26, 2008 at 02:14 PM
Get well soon. And that yarn is oh-so-lovely.
Posted by: Nora | March 26, 2008 at 03:15 PM

Delurking to say I hope you feel better soon.
Posted by: tayloe | March 26, 2008 at 05:53 PM
So sorry you are not feeling well. I know how it feels to have your immune system crash (lupus, fibromyalgia, blah blah balh), and you're right -- it sucks! Take care of yourself!
Posted by: Kristy | March 26, 2008 at 05:58 PM
The yarn for Persphone is amazing. I hope you feel better soon, Margene.
Posted by: nova | March 26, 2008 at 07:20 PM
You need spring. :D A little bit of sun and warm breezes make everything better. Get better soon.
Posted by: Stacey | March 26, 2008 at 07:43 PM
I'm glad you haven't been feeling well. I hope you feel better soon.
I've seen Smoke, but it's been years. I remember it being a good movie.

Keeping good thoughts for you!
Posted by: Sarah | March 26, 2008 at 09:50 PM
I'm not a doctor and have never played one on TV either, so listen to Laurie.
That yarn is beautiful.

So sorry to hear that you haven't been feeling well. We are having the same troubles here. I don't know what it is but has been a horrible winter for sickness. I hope your feeling better soon!
