All About Me
As I step into my fifth year of blogging, I still find myself in awe at the wonderful comments you have shared. The places you enjoy are as varied as you are, and each place sounds like a bit of heaven. Thank you for taking time to comment and tell your stories. If you haven't joined the party, please do so. I'd love to hear about your place of peace and joy.
Much of my weekend was spent coming back each day to read the comments and set aside some of the them to read again. The random number generator will be helpful in picking the 3 random winners, as well as helping me choose from the special stories you've told.
The weekend was relaxing, obligation free and full of self-indulgences. Saturday started out with the beautiful sunrise (as you see in Saturday's photo) and turned into a day of wind, rain and snow. March came in like the proverbial Lion. A trip to the grocer made the day a little brighter because of a beautiful, bright, bunch of sunny daisies. Every time I see them they bring a smile to my face.
Much time was spent with my knitting, so much so the second chart of Aspen Grove has been finished. Because this shawl is a half circle the number of stitches per row grow to what seems like insurmountable numbers. It's taking longer and longer to knit my way across. Also, because Mim has a way of creating interesting lace, there are subtle changes that keeps a knitter on her toes. The second section is representative of aspen tree trunks, the knots, twists and turns are captured very well in the lace. This section was very entertaining, but also a relief to finish. The next, and last large area, represents the roots of the aspen colony and while it becomes easy, comfortable knitting, the rows are ever longer and the finish line is far from near.
The second sleeve on EPS was finished and the body united on March 1st! The sense of accomplishment felt so good, but there is much more knitting before the finish. More details will follow this week. Hopefully she will be finished in time for my birthday celebration.
My self indulgence continued when the mail was delivered. A new issue of Piecework revealed a lacy, beautiful sock from Nancy Bush and I found a beautiful blue yarn (in my stash) that should work up nicely. The mail carrier also brought a new orifice hook from Kyra's Chiwawa Etsy Shop The handles are styled from a piece of wood, hand painted and etched. I love the bright colors and the copper hook.
Because of the new hook, which hangs on my wheel from its leather loop, the second bobbin of Cormo was finished and the third bobbin, which is a Cormo angora blend, is coming along nicely. The Cormo/angora is much easier to spin as it seems to have more body. In any case, it was nice to spend a relaxing weekend, spinning, knitting and indulging myself.

A well deserved "YOU" weekend..gives one time to recharge the 'life' battery..The Shawl is making lovely progress..Be Well~

Lovely weekend! I heard it was pretty nasty on Saturday, so you spent it in the best way possible.

I could look at your mountains forever... glad you had a lovely and productive weekend.

That has to be the most beautiful orifice hook that I have ever seen!
Your shawl is so beautiful too!

It sounds like a perfect weekend to me. I finished Aspen Grove last night. You are right about those long rows - they seem to take forever!

Sounds like a dream of a weekend! Daisies are my favorite! Besides the yummy fiber that is!

The Aspen Grove sounds very true to life, with the roots running deep!
I knew very well intellectually that progress on a full circle shawl would crawl to slow-mo, seemingly, at the end -- but remind me not to make one for a wedding again! Too much stress to be knitting, knitting, knitting with a looming deadline and have nothing to show for it! Luckily, the bride was not tall, I was designing the shawl and could decide to abandon ship early, and it blocked to the perfect size. But whew!

Sounds like the perfect weekend. I did quite a bit of spinning myself.

Sounds like a great weekend. You even "sound" rested. Now, have a good week.

When I saw those Daisies, I thought....wow, does she have flowers already?? Yikes..LOL. I am glad you treated yourself to some summer sunshine!
Aspen Grove is quickly moving up my queue!

Sounds like a wonderful weekend. It's great when you can take some time for yourself. The shawl looks beautiful and so does your spinning!

Sounds like a wonderfully relaxing, yet productive weekend!

See, you've done it again. I don't have that issue of Piecework but suddenly I need it. I should just give up on finding projects for myself and follow your lead instead. I couldn't keep up though. Oh, and I really love that orifice hook. So colorful.

Glad you had such a lovely weekend...you had it coming after such a tough winter! Must go get Piecework!

Wow, I can't tell you how those daisies brought a smile to my face and my outlook. I'm going to go buy some today!

I love that sock pattern. I'm about to place an order for some yarn, and I wouldn't be surprised if the magazine finds its way into the basket too.

Sounds like a just-about-perfect weekend!

Your weekend sounds like just what you needed to keep you growing stronger and brighter! Aspen Grove looks like it will be a treasure when finished, possibly even a new favorite... can't wait to see it.

What a nice weekend!! I didn't really get any knitting done and I'm totally bummed about that. I will tonight though :) Woohoo!! That sock pattern is really pretty! Hmm.....I might have to get the magazine now so I can have it! Someday. Someday I will have a need for pretty pretty orifice hooks and the like. Someday...probably this summer :) I can't wait!

The daisies are so pretty!!! And I bought the new Piecework because of the sock pattern alone.

I agree that sock pattern in piecework is lovely. I have been eyeing it but I don't know if I have time to do it. I love that there is not really any ribbing at the top.

That is a very funky o-hook you've got! And it isn't even rosy-pink--in fact it's mostly orange and green! That is a bold choice for you. :-)
I know you can finish Aspen... the really hard part is over with, judging by pictures I've seen. Except for the length of the rows, the end should be a walk in the park on a sunny day. :-)

I'm glad that I shared my story about my peaceful cootage on the lake on Friday, because over the weekend the less than peaceful side of the house shone through. The propane company forgot to deliver, and fortunately my brother-in-law stopped by yesterday to check things out and realized that we had no heat! It was a disaster in the making, and very stressful since the whole thing was happening on a Sunday. But, if I had been up there, I would have realized myself and there might not have been any stress.

Beautiful pictures! I especially love your Sat. picture this week.

Margene! How cool! Love the Oriface Hook you got from Kyra - do you remember that she's my friend from KC that wasn't able to go along to Estes last summer? She's really a great friend and I'm so happy to see one of her hooks - I recognized it immediately!
I Could Not Believe how many STORIES you've gotten!!! :)

I'm looking forward to a knitting weekend, but I won't have one for a few weeks yet. My dad and his wife are coming in early next week, so this weekend will be spent cleaning. I shall have to live vicariously through you. Everything looks just sooo pretty and I have to say, I have no idea what one actually uses an orifice hook for not being a spinner,(the mind boggles with possibilities, some unprintable) but that is so cool! I love the colors mixed with the copper. Enjoy!

I hope you have more weekends like this. That sock pattern looks great.

I need a weekend like yours to help me recover from the weekend I just had. Isn't that the way it usually is with "vacations?" Aspen Grove is beautiful!

What a lovely weekend! The orifice hook is gorgeous.
