A Plan of Action
Time to make a change (or ten)....a change in attitude (get out of the winter doldrums), a change in eating habits (more fresh foods), and a change of scenery. Building up this weakened immune system must be my main priority and the first thing I'm going to do is run away!
This afternoon, after my first ever spinning class, I'll be heading South to spend time with my sister, Neena. She knows food (and herbs) and will know just what's needed to build immunity. Saturday we'll head off to Zion for a day of sun (hopefully) and fun, with some good food (and drinks) thrown in. It will be nice to see a different landscape and get my head in a different place. Winter has been long, too long, and I'm going off in search of spring.
The spinning class, my first, is being taught by Celia Quinn and I'm very excited to have some guidance on my spinning quest. Spending the day in this fashion, and running away right after, seems like dream come true. The weekend is a much needed respite.
On another note...
How do you like my new red Keen's? I like them so much I may never buy any other brand again. The little bit of embroidery is especially pretty.
Only a few flowers have found their way through to the light of day. This bunch of crocus, which I anticipate every year, is the harbinger of what's coming to the garden.

Mom, make sure you tell everyone how tough I am.
Moxie would like to have a beer trade battle stories with Dale and compare scars. Thank goodness they'll both heal!
Happy Weekend!

I am SO going to run out and buy a pair of those Keens for myself. They're amazing. Keens are practically my everyday wear.

Those shoes are adorable - I love them! Moxie and Dale should definitely compare battle stories but I do think Moxie's is more exciting. Have a great time this weekend!
Posted by: Carole | March 28, 2008 at 04:58 AM
Moxie and Dale have stories to tell for sure. It's been a bad season for boo-boos. I like those Keens! Have a great get away!

Cool shoes. Love the tough-guy look on Moxie's face! Go, Immune System, Go!
Posted by: DebbieB | March 28, 2008 at 05:12 AM
Happy weekend to you! YIpIv!
Posted by: Lucia | March 28, 2008 at 05:20 AM
The only problem with the Keens is that we can't see your gorgeous pedicures. Have a wonderful recuperative weekend with sissy. And, please give big brave Moxie a hug for me. Who couldn't love that face? P.S. your crocuses (croci?) are at the same stage ours are. Interesting, huh?
Posted by: CindyCindy | March 28, 2008 at 05:46 AM
I see green grass, crocuses, and feet without socks - I think you've got spring, girl!! Have a great time.
Posted by: Nora | March 28, 2008 at 06:01 AM
Your weekend trip sounds perfect for what you need right now! My daughter is coming home today, so maybe between she and Neena we can find some things to help boost up your immune system naturally :-).
Love, love, love those Keens! Keens are just about the only thing I ever wear...love them!
Aww....Moxie IS a brave little guy. Give him a big hug from all of us here.
Have a great weekend!

Have a WONDERFUL weekend!!
Posted by: Robin in VA | March 28, 2008 at 06:08 AM
I envy your crocuses.
Sounds like a perfect weekend. Have a wonderful time.
Posted by: Paula | March 28, 2008 at 06:09 AM
I'm glad Moxie is doing well! Of course, I love your new Keens - I personally can't think of any reason to buy other shoes. :)
Have a great weekend!
Posted by: Chris | March 28, 2008 at 06:11 AM
Your day sounds great! And Moxie! What a trooper. It sure looks like that hurts, poor baby.
Posted by: Teresa C | March 28, 2008 at 06:16 AM
Spinning!! Good for you. And good for you and Neena! :) Have a wonderful time. I can't wear Keen shoes...they just aren't comfortable to me but they have great styles. I love Merrell but their range isn't that good and my cooler looking pair broke on the first walk in Paris.
Go Moxie!!
Posted by: kathleen | March 28, 2008 at 06:28 AM
I wonder if Keens would work for me...based on Katy's comment, I think not. I think we both have high arches and narrow feet. Dang. They're CUTE! I guess I shall have to stick to my NAOTs.
Posted by: Norma | March 28, 2008 at 06:30 AM
Go get strong!
I loved my class with Celia Quinn. You will have so much fun.
Posted by: Judy | March 28, 2008 at 06:34 AM
Have a marvelous weekend. Focusing on your health is always a good thing.
Posted by: Ruth | March 28, 2008 at 06:48 AM
Yup - Keen's rock. I have a pair that are felted wool with embroidery on the toes that I've moved into for the winter this year.
Enjoy your weekend of R&R. Hugs to Moxie!
Posted by: Anne | March 28, 2008 at 06:54 AM
I have a pair of Keen's myself and do like them...wish they were a little less "sporty" sometimes but they are comfortable!!
Have a fun weekend.

If spring won't come to you, go to spring. Have a great weekend!
Posted by: Wool Winder | March 28, 2008 at 07:14 AM
Keens are super. I'm the only one in my house without a pair but, seeing yours, I may need to fix that. I hope that you have a great little trip and return refreshed and restored to good health with a super-charged immune system. Most of all - have fun!

Celia Quinn came to my guild a couple years ago and I got to spend the weekend with her. She's wonderful, both as a person and as a spinning teacher. Have a great time.
Moxie is appropriately named.
Posted by: Chris | March 28, 2008 at 07:49 AM
Have a great weekend with your sis, and at the class! At least if you're only going to buy Keens, they're not all black like SOME people we know...
Posted by: Cheryl S. | March 28, 2008 at 08:11 AM
I like that plan of action: build yourself back up from the hard, hard winter.
Is it really warm enough there to wear those without socks? If so, jealousy reigns here.
Posted by: claudia | March 28, 2008 at 08:13 AM
Wow, that's some scar!!
I love my red Keens! (Why am I not wearing them today?)
Have a great weekend, Margene.
Posted by: Vicki | March 28, 2008 at 08:21 AM
Celia Quinn was my first teacher, too, and I had no idea who she was at the time. You will LOVE it! I wish she'd come back east for a class...she's one of the teachers I would like to have again! And your escape plan sounds like just the cure you need. (You know, stress can affect your immune system...you've had some recently!) Have a healing weekend!

Have a FABBY weekend, and YES! Good to see Moxie looking so good! (and happy to know Dale is doing better, too!)
NOW...get yourself on track, it sounds like your plans for that are just the ticket!
(((((Hugs)))))

Have a great weekend! May it help restore you to your normal, vigorous self!
I can't believe poor Moxie got attacked. I hope he's all better soon.

Holy HELL! When you said Moxie was a little scuffed up, I thought you meant a little. Poor Moxie!
Enjoy your weekend and return strong, healthy and herbed up :D

I'm so glad you're taking a little holiday. It should do you a great deal of good! :-)
And WOW, what cute shoes!

Love, love, love my Keens! The only shoe to ever steal my heart from my Birks.
Have a wonderful, rejuvenating visit!

Grand plans for the weekend, have a great time and loads of sun!
Posted by: Rachel | March 28, 2008 at 10:36 AM
Well in this case you are running to, not just running away, and it sounds wonderful! Have a great time with your sister, and I hope you get some sun and warmth. Can't wait to hear about spinning class!
Posted by: Margaret | March 28, 2008 at 10:39 AM
I think 'running away' with a plan is the best yet..I threaten it often!..And I'm delighted to see Tuff Moxie..is mending..Enjoy your much needed and earned getaway..
Posted by: Dianne | March 28, 2008 at 11:22 AM
mmmmmmmmmmmmm. Keens. I splurged on 3 pair for myself recently. They are foot gloves for us all.
Posted by: Judy | March 28, 2008 at 11:29 AM
Aww Mox! You ARE such a tough guy! Stay away from the big dogs for a while tho, m'kay? *smooch*
Margene, I'm so envious of your spinning class! I'm beginning to teach a beginning spindling class next month. It's very exciting to be spreading the spinning bug around! :)
Posted by: Laura | March 28, 2008 at 11:47 AM
Aw, poor pup! :(
Great shoes, though, and your little break sounds *fantastic*.
Posted by: Amy | March 28, 2008 at 11:48 AM
Love!
Love the shoes, the dog, the flowers and that you're getting away for a few days. Have a lovely safe time.
Posted by: Cookie | March 28, 2008 at 11:49 AM
Enjoy your time with your sister. And I like the new red shoes. And happy to hear that Moxie is on the mend.

Love the shoes - Love Mox - Love You - Have a wonderful renewing weekend with Neena. That's the kind of weekend I had in Kansas City on the 15th. It makes such a difference in the way you feel and your attitude about everything. Take care! XOXOXOXOX

I hope you are BOTH feeling better soon. Poor little Moxie!
Posted by: --Deb | March 28, 2008 at 03:37 PM
Oh, poor Moxie... his scar definitely wins out over Dale's, especially in relation to his total body size! I love all four pair of Keens I have managed to collect over the past several years and the first ones have been going strong for several summers... a great investment (Glenn's in love with them too, though he is also harder on them). I hope you have a lovely weekend:)
Posted by: Birdsong | March 28, 2008 at 03:41 PM
gawd, just when I catch up with the Danskos, you switch to Keens.
Wait--I already have Keens! But they're not that cute.
Posted by: Alarming Female | March 28, 2008 at 10:37 PM
Throw some zinc in with your R&R plan for your immune system - it will thank you. I'll have to keep DD from seeing your Keens - she'll want a pair! Take care of yourself, Margene. Fiber hugs to you!
Posted by: Dianna | March 28, 2008 at 11:51 PM
Oh hon, I'm so glad you're feeling better. I hope this weekend provides the respite that you need so badly.
How COOL--a spinning class! But I really figured you'd be TEACHING it, dontchano?
Love the Keens. Never heard of 'em, but wow, they're cute, and look great on you!
Have a terrific weekend, sweetie. Travel safely, and have a martini for me.
xoxo
