Don't you love serendipity, that wonderfully accidental event of something good happening while you're looking for something else? Before our trip I found a fun pair of shoes. They didn't 'go' with anything in my wardrobe (I knew I could make them work, somehow), but I bought them anyway. A week later, while walking around our favorite Kanab coffee shop (they also carry books, CDs, clothes and outdoor gear), I found an embroidered jacket. I just KNEW it was a perfect match to my shoes.
Another serendipitous event happened while shopping at Knit 1 Bead 2. I found a skein of the most amazing red-orange, but sadly, there was only one. As I walked around with it in my hand Rachel walked up with a skein of a rich multi-colored brown and, immediately, a picture of brown socks with red toes and heels popped into my head...another perfect match.
Before we left for Arizona I had started to spin a beautiful merino, in the Cosmos colorway, purchased from Hello Yarn. It was a delight to spin, but it had no project prospects when I started (not good). Upon our returned I realized the colors of Cosmos were the exact colors of the Painted Desert and I knew it had to become a shawl....a shawl to keep the winter chill from my shoulders and remind me of the desert I love so much.
I have been knitting and, in fact, I knit a bunch while on the trip (of course!). This week is a very busy one and I just haven't had time to take pictures and write something up. I promise a report later in the week. In the mean time...I'll keep knitting!
Has anything serendipitous happened to you lately?
