Quick Check In
Just popping in for a quick post to show off my Tulip Corrugator scarf (check Paula's side bar for a PDF of the pattern). It was a busy weekend starting with Susan's BSJ class at the Wool Cabin in the morning and a needlepoint class (which I taught) that afternoon. Then on Sunday we spent the afternoon at Deb's ranch and had dinner with the 'pacas. Details on both days will be forthcoming.
Be the star of your knitting. Maybe the people who see you in your fabulous hand knits don't realize what a creative and talented person you are, but YOU do! Bask in the knowledge that you created this unique, wearable and useful project with your own hands and know you are a star.

Thank you very much for your "be the star of your knitting" words of wisdom. They are exactly what I have been needing to hear all weekend, and I now have copies in my knitting bag and one to post over my desk. You have started my week off in a wonderful way with your words ~ Thank you!

Tulip Corrugator is perfect! And to know that skein was *almost* mine...... hehe. Can't wait to spin the rest of my Thrums up so I can make my version :-)

What wonderful words! I need to remember them.

Well we all know that you are a star!! Your scarf is beautiful. That pattern works so well for handspun yarn.
Posted by: Kirsten | September 10, 2007 at 05:15 AM
I was also going to say "great hair" and "love the knot"! (You go above and beyond, though....no way could you get a coat and scarf on me in this weather, even for the blog!)

Wow, your scarf turned out great, and you look mahvelous dahling. Sounds like you had a fun weekend. Can't wait to hear all about it.

You are always a rock star when it comes to knitting! I love that though. I always feel like a star in my knitting, whether anyone else knows I made it or not. I wore my Swingy Tank the other night and it got rave reviews. People asking me if I made it and telling me that it was great. And Pete loves it, so...
Don't tell me I need a scarf for this weekend! I'll just borrow that one. ;)

Are you wearing a scarf AND a jacket? Geez! It was a million degrees this weekend!

Was it really jacket weather in Utah? Wow. You guys deserve some nice cool days, though!
Your scarf is so fantastic I cast on one of my own this weekend. Monkey see... ;-)

Beautiful scarf, and you are so right about stardom. No one has to know but me. (Although I reserve the right to try to extract from fellow knitters the adulation I deserve, returning same with interest, of course.)

Wow! Lovely scarf, photo, and words for a Monday morning. Thanks for the inspiration, Margene!

What lovely advice! You look stunning in this star-quality photo.. your hair is at a great length and drape for your face and the colors of your new scarf are very flattering.

You and the scarf look lovely. And thank you for reminding us to bask in our talents. Sometimes it's easy to forget that we are all stars.

I love the reflection of the photographer in your sunglasses.

Nice scarf. You certainly are the star of your knitting.
Posted by: Hillary | September 10, 2007 at 10:22 AM
I often think of handspun as rough and heavy, which this scarf is clearly not.
Lovely work, Margene.
Blessings!

Yes, that's a really cute stitch pattern, and of course, your colors! So who all is coming for GBFAF? Or are your upcoming guests coming for a different event? We had planned to go to the Mackay Barbecue and miss GB, but then my kids pointed out that we have tickets for Spamalot Saturday night, so now we will be in town after all. DIL Joanne and I are going Saturday morning but not taking classes.

Oh, and nice scarf, too.

It's a gorgeous scarf, but what strikes me is that you are wearing... gasp ... a coat. Really? Or just for show...
Posted by: Ann | September 10, 2007 at 04:22 PM
That is a purty scarf! I have almost succumbed to the Chevron Scarf. Cute hair, too
Posted by: paula | September 10, 2007 at 04:47 PM
Beautiful scarf! Figures that I fall in love with something that I just can't reproduce :-)

Stunning scarf! And thanks for linking to the pattern - I have just the handspun for it.
Posted by: Jane | September 11, 2007 at 06:55 PM
Great scarf and words of wisdom.
Posted by: Vera | September 11, 2007 at 07:22 PM
I cast on 4 or 5 different projects with my Tulip handspun....what to do with such soft yarn? Some of the patterns didn't fit it or I just knew I wouldn't be able to do for a scarf's worth, but this pattern is great! At first I felt like, I'm copying her...but I'm going with "imitation is the greatest compliment"! And they will be different because, number one, it's handspun, and number two, each of our projects is unique!
Thanks for the inspiration!
