Fun With Cute Critters
It's very tempting to just let the pictures do the talking, as the alpaca (and llama) at Deb's Sunrise Ranch can't help but put a smile on your face. The babe's, Shinin' Times who was born in June, and Maria Elena, who was born about 2 weeks ago (a little early), were so much fun to watch. Shinin' is usually hanging with his mom and auntie, but he is a very curious boy.
Maria has been struggling a bit because of her premature birth so she gets the added boost of goats milk each day. She's all of 26 lbs (a big improvement over the 17 she was at birth). She put on a show of jumping and dancing around the yard in her cute blue coat. Fall is definitely in the air, especially in the higher elevations, where temperatures have been as low as 39 degrees.
The plan had been to eat on the deck, but it was so chilly and windy that we stayed in the nice, warm house Thank you Deb and Jim for a delightful evening, a delicious meal and a fun time with the critters, one and all.
Today is Kim's birthday! It will be so much fun to celebrate with you this weekend, Kim!

It looks like you had a great time with the Alpacas!

What great photos! I am amazed that the alpacas allow you to handle them so much, but it is probably also a testimonial to Deb and Jim and their good herd tending.
