Why Are Weekends So Short?

We seemed to pack quite a bit of fun into the weekend even though it sure felt short!
Friday I had a lovely conversation with Birdsong. We both had a crazy week and she thought hearing her voice would be better than an email.  She was so right!   Also on Friday, we had dinner with Deb and Jim.  The food and company were fabulous and it was a lovely way to start the weekend.

Fancyredtoesonsaturday_3 Saturday a friend and I had pedicure, followed by lunch, to celebrate her birthday.  I had planned to take a picture of both our toes...but we were having too much fun and I forgot, so you get my toes alone.

Movieinvalsbackyard She gave us a treat of ripe red tomatoes form her garden which I made into a caprese, of which I also forgot to take a picture before taking it to another friends end of summer outdoor movie night party.  I did however remember to take a picture of the movie being projected on the garage so we could all see it (Captains Courageous!).  What  great way to enjoy a summer evening!

Astormisbrewing_2 Zengardenduringrain The heat returned for the weekend despite a promised respite...it was 80 at 5:30 Sunday morning and the short afternoon thunderstorm served only to create a steamy afternoon.  We could see the storm building as we were taking pictures of the Ruby My Dear Socks. The sky was quite dramatic during the storm and I did a little rain dance in the Zen garden so the rain would stick around...but, alas, I have no sway over the rain gods.

I'll confess to a lack of knitting during this too short 2 days...we need longer weekends, don't you think?  However, this tiny sock did grow quickly when I could sit for a minute or two. Teri's Little 16 Newborn Sock pattern was a nice weekend project. Isn't it cute!?

What a cute wee little sock! What yarn is that? Glad you had a fun weekend despite it's feeling too short.

Looks like Koigu to me. It's cute!

Wait! There was a weekend?! ;) Yours sounds nice and weatherwise, sounds like you were here. Love your tootsies, very pretty! Love the sockie! I have to check it out thanks!

I couldn't agree more that weekends are way too short! Sounds like yours was lots of fun. Mine was, too. Stay tuned for details. :-)

Great toes! One of these days, I must have a pedicure :-). Sounds like you had a great weekend!

Thanks for the sock link.

Oh, very cute socklet indeed! :) Isn't it amazing what a fresh pedicure can do for one's morale?

Weekends are short because we like them so much.

If you have any leftover tomatoes, make tomato pie!

You need about 1/2 pound of grated gruyere cheese and about a pound of tomatoes.

Blind bake a pie shell.

On the bottom, spread a couple of tablespoons of whole grain dijon mustard.

Top with thin layer of cheese. Add thin layer of tomatoes. Alternate tomatoes and cheese until the pie shell is pretty full, topping with a layer of tomatoes.

Bake at 350F for 45 minutes until the tomatoes start looking dried up on top.

It tastes sort of like a pizza when it's hot, but it's best at room temperature served with a nice green salad with a lemony dressing.

Awww, cute! The wee sock bug is catching! :)

Margene, I can't believe you get recipes in your comments. That has to be the ultimate in blogging.

I'm having a pedicure today! You've inspired me.

Oh, I hear you about the short weekends.
And I LOVE those washed stones. Are those natural, or do you get them by the truckload? They are really great. (And please don't tell me they are natural.)

You pack an awful lot into one short weekend! I love baby socks (those are adorable) more than almost any kind of knitting!

I couldn't agree more, the weekends are WAY too short! But it sounds like you made the most of yours. And I can't help noticing what cute sandals you have! Love them. ;-)

Yes, definitely longer weekends! I've forgotten to say how beautiful Phyllo is! Very flattering on you! And this is why Ravelry will be a good thing, that sweater looks much better on real people than in the book.

Really cute! I like the turned down cuff.

I love the tomato pie recipe in the comments. I love tomatoes! I also love that you have a zen garden. Nice pictures, as always, and very cute socks.

Too bad you couldn't charm the rain. The little socks are sweet! I'll have to get that pattern to use up odd ends of yarn. And I'm sure that there will be more babies around here one of these days.

Quite the busy weekend and you still had time for some knitting.? Sounds like you had a great time even though busy. I would much rather be busy than with "nothing" to do.

Cute toes! Sounds like a lovely and relaxing weekend. I was in Tucson and the left-overs from Dean made it HUMID! My mom reports it was yucky in CA too. Hope you didn't get any of the sticky stuff.

Unfortunately the weekends do seem too short. Your weekend sounds like it was fun-filled. We had a lot of heat on Sunday, much to my dismay, but such is the way of nature. Pretty pedicure and cute sock

Nice toes!
Thanks for the link to the pattern. We have a charity here for hand knits for babies and these will be perfect!

Sounds like a great weekend and your right they are too short.

Weekends and vacations are always too short! It does sound like you packed a lot of fun into your two days, though.

Nice toesies and sockies :-)

My dad always jokes that the great thing about retirement is the length of your long weekend. The only problem is that you only get 1 a year.

I do try to pack way too much into just one little weekend! The sky photos are magnificent, but I am sorry that the heat is back up... didn't want to tell you it was headed your way just in case you could manage to dodge the blasting temps. The basement must be calling...

You got a lot done in one short weekend!

But hey! Next weekend is a long one! Woo hoos all around!!!!

These look suspiciously like the Koigu socks I knit way back when. Am I right? And I'm so ready for summer to be done, myself. Blergh. But definitely I'm not giving the sendoff you got to give it!
