My Day Off

This was the sky early Tuesday morning.
Watchedtheglorouislybluesky

Thecloudsbuiltupasthedaywenton_2 Smoke free and bluer than I've seen it all summer.  It was so enjoyable to sit on the patio, feel the rare sensation of humidity on my skin and watch the clouds build up over the mountain. 40% humidity is quite something to a desert rat like me.  This time of year that much humidity means monsoonal moisture could make it's way in to our valley.  Rain, sweet rain, we so need you.

Satonthepatioandknitrubymydear_2Weenjoyedbreakfasttogether The main focus of my patio knitting was Ruby/ Thelonious. The pattern kept things interesting as I knit while being serenaded by a variety of song birds. The heel was a nice respite from chart reading and good progress was made. I ignored the parade (one of the largest in the country), but decided to get out of the house and take the Neapolitan sock to breakfast. If I could have had a Bloody Mary (only after noon) I would have. (Poor Smith works for a national corp that doesn't recognize State holidays...so I was on my own.)

Spunabobbinofhernamewasrio_3After breakfast, and while listening to some new music (link has music),  I spent a little quality time with Emmylou and spun a bobbin full of  Pippi's Falkland wool that I had picked up from Scout a couple of weeks ago. 'Her Name is Rio' is one pretty grrl and she's loads of fun, too.

Lovelyendtoholiday Later in the afternoon I spent time with a few members of my family who were in town for a larger family reunion (which I also ignored) and then enjoyed a lovely evening with Smith.  It rained, too! Not as much as we needed or wanted, but enough to make a cool, delightful end to the day.

Sounds like a lovely day:)Thanks for sharing it with us!

Hurray for rain! I hope you went out and danced in it.

No bloody mary before noon? Damn those Utah liquor laws. I love your subtle mention of ignoring the family reunion. Heh.

Sounds like a beautiful day - what was the holiday?

Glad you got a little bit of rain and hope you get more. It looks like a possibility from what I saw on the weather. Seems like you had a nice day. Enjoy the rest of your week.

i saw on the news that sleepy hollow has a lightning fire right now. where is that in relation to you?

glad to hear you had a nice day yesterday. what was the state holiday? (brigam young days?)

It sounds like a grateful day! How are you liking the Thelonius pattern? I am tempted to try that one next.

Glad you finally got some rain! (Just so you know, our humidity is already almost 70% this morning, with no rain in sight. Yuck.) That Falkland is most interesting: how did you like spinning it?

What a lovely day to yourself! And ending with those you love? Knitting and spinning?
Could there have been a more perfect one?
((((hugs))))

A nice way to spend a day off.

Sounds like a fabulous day! I love the purple you're spinning. Hee hee - 40% humidity sounds divine. It's 70% here right now.

And wasn't it lovely to have cool, fresh, rainy air at bedtime!

We played tag with the rain on our drive up from Parowan yesterday. We'd get past it, then stop along the way and it would catch up with us again. Fortunately it didn't affect any of our fun 'down south', and they got a lot of much-needed rain.

You have been in my thoughts lately with your horrific wildfires. Although I know you are fine, your air quality is affected. I do so love Rio. The colorations are simply lovely. Oh, and BTW, your Hidcote turned out absolutely stunning.

Hope you continue to get the rain so the fires will be put out for good and your temps will be bearable for the rest of the summer. Sounds like you had a very relaxing, renewing day.

Glad to hear the smoke is abating. Enjoy the patio, and the music (I love Emmylou!), and of course the spinning and knitting.

How fun! Our humidity varies between 60-80% each day. Knitting or spinning outside is but a dream for a few more months!

glad you got a little of the rain you wanted .... I am also going to take a cue from you and start choosing to 'ignore' certain requests!

Sounds like a wonderful day! I, on the other hand, would love to feel some dry desert heat and get away from the 80% humidity and flooding that Oklahoma has been experiencing. Why must it always be feast or famine?

I'm so glad you had a lovely peaceful day. Let me guess... just enough rain to make the cars look really dirty, right? Still it's a nice change from our normal hot dry summers.

Being able to ignore people has to be one of the best parts of adulthood.

Beautiful blue sky. Wouldn't it be nice if parts of England could send rain to your area and also Australia!
I always want a dish of Neopolitan ice cream after seeing your sock!

That IS a beautiful sky, and I'm glad you got a little rain. I'm going to wish a little more for you, too!

Sounds like the perfect day off!

Sounds like a lovely day off. It's really amusing that you welcome the humidity. We have humidity to spare here and welcome those days without as a miracle.

Sounds like a perfect day! The socks a very pretty, one of my friends is knitting Neapolitan, such warm cozy colors! Inquiring minds want to know, what was the holiday?

Sounds like a great day. Glad you got some much needed rain.

It sonds like a great day off. The purple yarn you're spinning is beautiful.

sounds like a lovely day! that neopolitain sock makes me think of candyland ;o)

It sounds like a very nice holiday! It was muggy and sweltering here yesterday, just awful and energy-draining, but today was drier with a light breeze. Maybe respite and return to desert rat conditions is headed your way.
