One Sock at a Time
This is the first Loksins! sock on Friday afternoon.
This is the first Loksins! Saturday afternoon.
This is the first Loksins! during cocktail hour the same day.
This is the first Loksins! just before dinner.
This sock is fun to knit, as something new happens on every row. I LOVE the yarn, Reynolds Soft Sea Wool, it's stretchy and makes a very comfortable sock! I really love the color, hand dyed by MOI! A few minor modifications were made: The cuff was started with 6 rows of stockinette stitch to make a rolled edge, the heel flap was made longer to accommodate my high instep, and the toe is one of my favorites, the Purl Swirl Toe. Just so you know, I can knit a swirled toe perfectly, even after two martinis. Second Loksins! will be my Estes Park knitting...hopefully progress will be as quick!

I love the colors of the yarn, Have to dye somthing similar soon, and the pattern is beautifully knitted.

it looks great! i'm a bit jealous that yours is longer. i think i need to make another pair with some calf shaping so it can be longer too.
btw, your dye job is *great*!

LOVELY dyes! Nice work. And quick Loksin, which gives lie to its name. I will do the heel mods, but muchmuch slower.
Have fun at Estes, you lucky grrrl.

Did you start out with the stated number of stitches in the pattern?
Posted by: Laurie | June 13, 2007 at 04:34 AM
The sign of a truly talented knitter is being able to knit well after two martinis! And a swirl toe no less! Call me impressed!
Posted by: jackie | June 13, 2007 at 04:45 AM
Wow, that was fast! Looks great, too.
Posted by: Carole | June 13, 2007 at 05:05 AM
Beautiful sock! You did a great job with the colors too.
Posted by: Vera | June 13, 2007 at 06:03 AM
Yikes...that was fast!! You go grrl!!! Beautiful dye job by the way :-)

Ooo, I love it! Isn't it funny how a perfect project can just jump off the needles?

Ooh, pretty! I have the pattern -- now have to get knitting!
Posted by: Kathy | June 13, 2007 at 06:27 AM
You have now confirmed what I already suspected: I'm really slow when it comes to knitting socks. Looks great. The color is gorgeous!

That's a sign of a truly gifted knitter--can still knit well after consumption of martinis. Lovely Loksin!
Posted by: Marcy | June 13, 2007 at 06:45 AM
Lovely! You did a beautiful job with both the dye and the knitting.
Makes me want to knit my Loskins even more quickly. I started mine between work stresses yesterday!

You were a sock knitting machine on Saturday! The socks are beautiful.
Posted by: kat | June 13, 2007 at 06:55 AM
Lovely! I was a bit worried when you got to "during cocktail hour" - I'm glad your toe-knitting skills are up to the martini challenge!
I'm working on a sock in the same yarn right now, but I gotta tell you, the jury is still out here. Feels a little acrylicky to me.

Amazingly fast! I think I might have to try DK socks, not quite as heavy as worsted but much faster than fingering.... this could work! The dye colors you came up with are simply gorgeous.

You did a great job with the dye - the colors are marvelous!

I love the sock (I have the pattern; you are definitely giving me inspiration to get going on it) and the yarn is wonderful - you did a fantastic job Margene! I think there are socks that knit up so quickly for whatever reasons.....gotta love it!

Looks great! Not familiar with a purl swirl toe - is it like a petal toe but with purl decreases?
Posted by: elizabeth | June 13, 2007 at 12:48 PM
That is beautiful!
Have a great time!
Posted by: tiennie | June 13, 2007 at 01:02 PM
I LOVE the Loksins!
And I love that colour!
By Sea Wool does it really mean it's got part of the sea in it like Fleece Artist Sea Wool? Or is it just a name?
Posted by: Arianne | June 13, 2007 at 01:03 PM
But could you do it after three martinis? ;-) No, on second thought don't answer that...
I mean to try that yarn sometime--I have yet to hear anyone say they haven't liked it. Yours certainly is beautiful (and one of a kind! Isn't that nice? No one will ever have a sock exactly like it. :-)
Posted by: Beth S. | June 13, 2007 at 01:07 PM
Your hand-dyed yarn works very well with the lace pattern. It must be a fun sock to knit, considering how quickly you went through the first one!
Posted by: Rachel | June 13, 2007 at 01:42 PM
WooHoo!
Posted by: Cookie | June 13, 2007 at 02:23 PM
It's beautiful, truly!
Posted by: nova | June 13, 2007 at 02:57 PM
Oooo, beautiful! That should be fantastic Estes knitting. I can't wait to see it in person :-)

Wonderful sock and dye job! I'm looking forward to seeing you and the sock at Estes on Saturday.
Posted by: Jane | June 13, 2007 at 03:43 PM
That Loksins pattern really is enjoyable - I posted a photo of mine in process. It's very slow going but I love it.
I love Estes Park. I used to love to go to a little cafe called the Mustard Seed 30 years ago for the world's best sandwiches. I don't think they are there any more. Have fun!
Posted by: Julie | June 13, 2007 at 03:47 PM
Beautiful job on the dyeing! I was so hoping it would be something I could purchase. Ah well. :-)
