March 27, 2007

In Need of Prioritization

It's the last week of March and I ask myself,  "How did that happen!?"  Truly I'm shocked that March is nearly gone and I have little knitting to show for the month. It feels like I've been treading water...no forward motion. Maybe goals and/or priorities will work, so here I post a list of who's on first.

Blueellenssockonhidcote Cuffofellenssockonhidcote First and foremost is Ellen's sock (from Folk Socks) for my Bloomin’ Feet pal.  How did May 1st get so bloomin' close?  How bloomin' slow can I knit?  Not only do I have most of the first sock to finish, but the second bloomin' sock as well. Oh and, I'd like to knit a little something extra, but I'm not sayin' what...so keep yer bloomin' questions to yourselves cuz I won't tell. The yarn is CTH Special and I'm very impressed and happy with its characteristics...it will surely bloom.

Alittlesnapofhidcote Second is Hidcote, but only for the reason that she is so bloomin' close to the finish line. (Yes, I know I've said this before.)  Can you believe I have 6 rows of chart #9 and all of chart # 10 to go? The going is so so slow, but the end feels so so near. I'm not making any predictions because every row is SO long and there may be, or may not be, time to finish and block her this week/weekend.

Third up is the Forecast Sock, my very own handspun sock, solely (Norma is that enough of a pun for you?) because I need an easy, peasy project for SnB and other crazy times. The second sock should work up quickly and that will mean I can finally start knitting a sweater!

It's been too long and I must make this priority number four:

April first I'm turning into a sweater knittin' fool.

Comments

March did go by so fast! All the knits are looking great!

OMG -- I'm with you! April is going to be my new January -- fresh start, renewal, all that good stuff! I just faced the realization last night that I don't like the combo of my Bloomin' Sock pattern and yarn -- good news is that I have another yarn that I think will work better.

Will it make you feel better to know that I haven't even started my Bloomin' Feet socks yet?

I love love love the colors of your handspun sock yarn. And I have learned the hard way the importance of NOT taking complicated knitting to SnB.

"April is my new January." That's great!

I know! March is GONE! I'm totally shocked how fast it went, and I was trying to have a Finish-A-Thon and so far I have 2 knitting FOs, 5 or 6 yarns cleared off bobbins, and that's about it. Shocking!

You are sooooo close to finishing Hidcote! You go!

So which sweater do you have in mind?

You're so organized with your knitting. I am so NOT.

Good job on the pun. :)

I really do like the colors of your Forecast sock!

Sometimes we don't make progress because we need a break, don't you think? But when a grrl starts an inventory, look out!

Hidcote, Hidcote, go, go, go! C'mon, you can do it!

Hahaha, I like Kathy's idea about April being the new January... why not?

Love the colors in that Forecast Sock.

And March is so often "the longest month!"
Ok...time for needles to fly!
(((Hugs)))

March did go by fast, didn't it? I have my twisted knitters yarn spun and dyed, but do I have it knit yet...nope...LOL

Go go go!

Yes, the CTH will bloom and soften with a bath. Lovely color too. Hidcote is looking wonderful and those last rows on a square shawl always do seem to go on forever. Worth it though!

Your Bloomin' Feet sock is lovely at least!! :) Process process process....

You have a bloomin' lucky pal - those are gorgeous!! I love the color of the yarn ;) Do any of your sweaters fit into the next color span of Project Spectrum?

You have got me thinking about how little I accomplished here; worse, the weather will be changing and the types of knitting I want to do along with it! At least the sock queue is long enough to last all summer.

A new sweater! How exciting! What could it be? :-) No, don't tell, I love a good surprise...

I want to do a sweater too. I've been thinking about the Central Park Hoodie, though it would be entirely the wrong project for the upcoming season.

So in love with your Forecast socks. Sigh!

I found CTH to be a bit rough before it was washed. But after a soak, it softened and bloomed and it seems to get better with each wear and wash.

I hear ya with the month going by so quickly. Where did it go? The socks look great. I can't wait to see Hidecote finished!

I don't know....I think you need another easy peasy project! Have any more handspun sock yarn you could cast on with?

It'll happen. Look... even I finished 3 things in a week. :) It's just the way the projects fall. Or the process happens?

"March: In like a lion, out like a road-runner..."
The knitting looks great, and certainly is moving along, whether it seems slow to you or not! Once you get those bloomin' socks done, the deadline will be out of the way, and you can relax and let things flow off the needles...

All good goals. Will you bring those handspun socks with you tonight? I want to pet them. :)

"April is the new January". Don't you wish?

Your Bloomin' Feet socks are bloomin' lovely. I too will be a sweater knitting fool in April. Because everyone needs sweater for the summer!

I can't believe it's almost April! I know that "treading water" feeling. I have got SO MANY things on the needles... and nothing close enough to finish that makes me want to pick it up. I just want to start something new every day, it seems. How awful! lol I wanna knit a sweater! Oh no - I have too many things already on the needles! :)

Ugh, I'm with you too! I can't believe it's almost April--I wanted to have so much done by now. I like your idea of taking stock, and then just finishing everything up--that's what I'm trying to do too.

Your socks and shawl all look lovely--can't wait to see them completed!

All the knits are looking great. Wow, you've really persevered with Hidcote. Almost to the finish line with it. I had to frog mine and haven't gotten up the gumption to start again. Love the forecast socks!

I love your handspun sock! So cool!

I had to turn my stitch a day calendar forward several days yesterday and was horrified to find that March is basically over. I thought that this winter would seem endless and be productive. Instead it seems to be the shortest and least productive yet! At least I am not the only one feeling this way!

This year I've only been focusing on about 5 projects per month, and I've had great success actually getting stuff done. You're close!

At least, you're not alone in that feeling this month. I have no idea where March went.

The msot shocking thing on the end of this march is, that my son will turn one next week and I still have no gift and don't know what to buy. Don't bother with not having completed something, you did spin and meet people and had fun, is that nothing?

I didn't finish stuff for a longer time than a month and don't ask for the WIPs here ;)

Best Wishes !

Ummm, I think you've got your calendar backwards. You're supposed to knit little projects like socks in the summer months so your lap isn't weighed down with hot yarn. You're supposed to knit sweaters in the winter for the opposite reason. You had better knit like a crazy women come April 1st - that will give you three months to beat the heat!

Looks to me like you have been busy and Kim's visit a wonderful one. I have been sicky. Eeewww. Not a stitch knit in days. :(

What beautiful socks!!! Yes, I know, how did it get to be almost April????? Yesterday here in Wisconsin we had 80 degrees and I thought wool sock wearing was over for the year. However, today the temp was in the 50's and wool socks were appreciated. Thanks for your comments on my blog about my blanket. I hope to finish it this weekend.

I would like to know where the time has gone too. If you find out could you let me know? ;)

The socks all look great and Hidcote is soooo close. It is going to be georgious!!!

Keep on knitting, knitting, knitting.

I'm with you 100%. I cannot believe that it's nearly April. Where does the time go? I can't wait to see what sweater you start.
