The newest member of the Socks That Rock Sock Club arrived a couple of days ago. I LOVE the color and had to wind it up right away and start the socks. The pattern looked fun, and different, so I cast on and I love it a ton! Receiving a new and unique colorway from STR every other month has been somthing I look forward to as they colors always inspire and the yarn is so fabulous.
As I said yesterday, it feels like bad luck to not have a sock (or two or more) on the needles. Speaking of needles: I bought a set of Golding 6" size 1 DPNs at Rhinebeck. They knit like silk and have more bend then other wooden DPNs. Maybe I'll pull a Cara and knit only STR for awhile. Isn't this sock looking good (and good looking)?
The grrls at Blue Moon sure know how to combine color choices that bring out the best in each other. Every skein of STR in my stash is so well loved that I haven't even knit with it yet! How lucky I was to win the Sock Club contest and name the new blue colorway you see on the right. It's Midsummer Night and it's a very special colorway for me as I love Shakespeare (and blue). TeresaC (she's on the side bar with Risa) knit a beautiful pair of socks with it that you must see. STR is now starting sign ups for the 2007 Sock Club. Because I have more STR, and other sock yarn, than I can handle at the moment AND I have the new hobby of spinning to contend for my dollars...I'll not join this time around, but it has been a riot of fun.
Speaking of socks...Hillary has a great idea for a new sock KAL. You can check out her Sock Madness blog as she has a call out for designers and she's planning some good competitive fun for sock knitters everywhere.
Hey Deb...this is for you.
Every year I buy a Georgia O'Keefe calender to hang above my desk. Her colors and images speak to me, as I know they do for others. It's feels like receiving a gift on the first day of each month to turn the page and see what's there. Check out Deb's birthday meme/contest and join in the fun.
Enjoy your weekend! I'll be knitting and spinning up a storm!

I think the new STR color is my favorite so far. But I'm not signing up again either. While I've enjoyed it, I haven't knit one of the patterns. I think I'd be better off spending my money on just the yarn and not the whole club experience.
Oh, and sock madness? I think it's an awesome idea. I'm designing the button for it.

Sounds like my kind of weekend. Enjoy! And thanks for the fun links!

The STR yarn is all so stunning. I just got the color Hot Flash, and I just adore it.
Sock Madness? Sounds interesting...

My love for STR is wide and never ending. I, too, love the new colorway.

One of these days I hope to try STR yarn....your colors are so pretty!

I am not a big pink fan but I have admired that color across the blogs. I don't blame you casting on pdq.

What a lovely calendar picture, and the new STR is looking great in that sock so far!

I love the new str colorway. I'm kicking myself for not signing up for the full year!

Yep - love, love, love their yarn. But I'm probably not going to join that club this year. I'll just buy singles as I get to them. There's another sock club I'm thinking of joining for a little angora fix anyway!

Looks like you could just knit socks, for a LONG time, lol. Have a good weekend.

The colourway does look pretty. Is that a small ruffle at the top of the sock? Cute!

Oh no... another sock KAL. Can I resist? Weakening... heeeelp meeeee...

I love the colorway! Someday I'm going to order some STR (when my sock yarn stash is down just a wee bit).

With all that sock yarn to knit, you will never be without a pair socks on the needles...no bad luck for you. Have a great weekend.

Have I met a STR color that I didn't like? Not many... This new one I've seen around the blogs is gorgeous! I hope you show us another in-progress shot soon.

That new colorway that Tina came up with is wonderful - and is that a picot edge I see? or just the way it's scrunched.
So glad that you've gotten hooked on spinning too. It's an amazing craft.

oooohhhhhhhhhh, I love the new STR colorway, too....
And, is it really bad luck not to have at least two pairs on socks on needles?

Socks are still the talk of the town ;) the new STR is very nice. I still have not tried the stuff!
Have a good weekend, M!

Beautiful Georgia O'Keefe picture. I have a box of blank cards featuring her work, and I love to flip through them from time to time.

i tho't i was the only one with a stash of un-knit str - actually, i have a sock on the needles....but, i too love the latest kit that came and plan to wind pink granite this weekend and actually do the pattern it came with!

One of these days I'm going to have to track down some of that STR yarn and try it out!

Beautiful STR colorway! What do they call it? Did I miss that part? Are those Jaywalkers you're making there Margene? Surely not.

you know, i have a few socks on the needles... must dig that out ;-) love the picot edging.

I have to fess up, in an unusual turn of affairs, I actually have no socks on the needles. I finished the last pair last night. Rest assured this is a state that won't last very long. I might finally pull out the STR that I bought online after the hubbub at MDSW and see what the fuss is all about! Now I'm glad I registered for the 2007 STR club, except for sizable sock yarn stash already keeping my home warm ;)
Have a great weekend!

I had STR on the brain today and counted 10 skeins in the stash. I just wound one sacrificial skein.
