After a dark and dreary Saturday, the Faux Princess walked out into a dawn of clear skies and a full moon. She walked through the dark intent on finding the magic she needed in the land of Green Faced Witches. As she search the sun came up and the clear sky brightened to a beautiful blue. She knew then that magic was close at hand.
The first Green Faced Witch she spotted flew overhead and the breeze created by her fast spinning wheels mussed the Faux Princesses hair. Not to worry she is not vain and was delighted that the Green Faced Witches were so near by.
The little ghost in the Witches basket was screaming rather ghoulishly and the Faux Princess wondered if the Witches were good flyers.
It wasn't long before we found that many new Witches had a hard time with insurance rates as they crashed quite frequently into trees. Would the FP be able to really find the magic she needed with her knitting in a place so full of chaos.
The FP ran, while covering her head, towards the Witch with whom she had talked to her about magic the day before, the Green Faced Witch of Covered Wagons. This Witch was especially interesting the poor Red Sock as she loved to wear knit socks and sweaters, too. With a rather smuge look on her face she snaped the reins and the sock grew immediately just to the spot needed to start the flap. The FP could now knit a bit of magic herself, the best part of sock knitting that is, turning the heel.
The FP thanked the Green Faced Witch of the Covered Wagons and walked away in relief. She would now easily finished the sock by the deadline date of Halloween. To celebrate, the PF headed over to Hilda's Hangout which is open every day of the year expect
Halloween (you really wouldn't want to be there that night anyway...just sayin').
After a bit of celebratory grog the FP visited the friends she had made the year before, and also made a new friend or two. The Buggy Green Faced Witch was very friendly and she had a cage full of bug-eyed bugs. It was rather spooky but she was also covered with the funny little critters. As the FP sat down to chat she looked over her shoulder and saw...THIS!! (click only if you don't scare easily)

After jumping up, and feeling a bit like Little Miss Muffet, the FP found a much less frightening place to spend time. Fiona loves fresh frogs (shhh...she really likes fresh frog LEGS, but don't tell her pet frog, James!) and was full of smiles and hugs.
As the FP was on her way back to her home she was stopped by a Green Faced Witch named Dee-va, who did not have her best interest at heart! She had spied the FP's knitting bag, which perfectly match her fabulous new frock of purple lace and red feathers. She smiled kindly and did all she could to take the bag for her own, but the bag was full of magic as the Red Sock was tucked inside and the FP was able to take the bag away.
So off the FP went, happily on her way, after spending a magical day in the land of Green Faced Witches. Now it's time to spread a little sock magic all around, to knitters near and far, while they enjoy Socktober !

The witches this year are even better than last year! Wonderful!

I think I read about a recall of broom sticks with faulty steering recently - maybe some of our witchy friends haven't heard about it!

I love your Halloween posts. Who knew Utahans would be so into witches. :)
At first I thought the witch in the first picture was wearing your new pink sweater!

I think this visit to the Green Faced Witches is one of your most whimsical all year! Thanks for the time taken to put this together, and hope the lightheartedness brightened your weekend. The red sock appears to be coming along just swimmingly.

Yay! The witches have returned! I just loved these posts last year!
I have to tell you, I went into a knitting shop in Roanoke on Saturday to exchange some yarn (still following the no-buying-craft-supplies agreement, by some miracle! OK, so maybe there has been a *tiny* bit of cheating...). Anyway, I mentioned to the store owners that I had previously lived in Utah, and they got SOOOO excited! "Do you know Margene!? We read Margene EVERY SINGLE DAY!" It was fun to tell them I knew you in person, and they wanted to know all about you. It was almost as good as being a celebrity! Haha!
Small blogging world. Love it.
