Saturday Sky With Roving
Saturday Sky not so bright....
(Yes that is snow.)
Saturday Sky roving full of light.
Marcia has taken it upon herself to continue enabling and encouraging me to spin. She dyed and process this roving and sent it to me. I should be spinning something else, but I just had to take this out for a spin with my new Mjolinor.
Ah, it's all so heavenly!

Your snow made our local news this morning. It was kind of cool/freaky whe they said Little Cottonwood Canyon and Snowbird to think "I know exactly where they are talking about" ... "Oh wait, I don't really" The blog world is kind of wierd.
But, I came racing over here to see if you posted a Saturday Sky picture with the snow.
Didn't it just stop snowing there?

Snow?! I suppose that's what living in Utah is all about then? I'm currently basking in warm late-summer sunshine in England!

While I dyed the blue fiber myself (it's Finn, I think) it was the white that I took from fleece to roving with my own two hands! I can't recall whether I sent you the Cormo or Rambouillet: the Cormo got washed by hand and combed; the Rambo got washed by hand, flicked, and run through TWO drum carders! Yay to snow!

That is incredibly beautiful! I don't know how to spin (or even have the desire to honestly) but if someone gave me that roving, I wouldn't sleep until I figured out how!

We had snow too. Well not at my house, but just up the hill it did!
Good job on the spinning. I have been wanting to learn, but I just haven't found the time!

Snow! Wow. Your roving is so beautiful - I love that color.

Ahhhh... time to haul out the heavier knits and do warm stuff. heh Beautiful sky - beautiful roving!! I couldn't resist that either if I were you!

How did ya get the roving to match the sky? Now THAT'S what I call talented! Ha! Your sky looks like mine, except for the snow of course. Look forward to the vest & socks...

You have snow and I just had to come in from spinning on my deck because it was TOO hot. What a funny thing to have such different experiences today.

In the land of changing seasons, the inevitable change is the constant. And each season brings both challenges and delights. Tossing some beautifully dyed roving into the mix definitely qualifies as delight. Enjoy!

How do you like the mjolinor? I've been drawn to its wood for a long time now. But have resisted because the spindle is much bigger than I normally like to use.
Congrats on the first snow of the season! Its always exciting (at least for me) to see those first sprinklings of white on the mountains. =)

Your spinning is beautiful! And that roving is such a pretty, peaceful color.

Snow! Oy. Not sure I'm ready for that.
That roving looks heavenly. Looks like you have another enjoyable weekend in the works!
Posted by: Norma | September 16, 2006 at 11:12 AM
Wow, the roving echoes the sky in a way.

Looks like you are spinning a sky!
Is this early for snow on the mountains? Or right on time? Late?
wondrring.
:)

ooooh pretty roving!

Except for the spindle and the mountains, those two pictures look almost exactly the same. (You know, except for those two, minor little difference....)

I did get my wish, Margene. I was at Camp Cloud Rim at 9500 feet last night, yes camping, and there was 8 inches of snow overnight. It was 26 degrees this morning. There was not a great deal of blue sky, but what there was, between the fog and blizzard, looked just like your roving.

Margene, that roving is just heavenly!!! When you come east, you will have to teach me how to use a spindle better. I keep telling the kids......they call it a "drop" spindle for a reason..LOL. I am very impressed with how you have done with a spindle.

AYE! SNOW!
not much longer for us, now either.
Beautiful spinning!

Snow! SNOW!!! I can't even tell you how jealous that makes me.

The yarn you are spinning reminds me of a beautiful sky :)

Our friends visiting from Vermont who were supposed to get here last night? Called us this morning from guess where?
Posted by: Scout | September 16, 2006 at 10:26 PM
Wow, that blue is simply beautiful, and matches the sky so well! Don't you just love the Mjolinar?! I think it might be my favorite spindle. Not that I'm completely blase about the snow; I think it's pretty darn early for that stuff yet, even in the Wasatch.

Snow? It's all melted now? We're having a few warm days. MMMmmmm, spring!

Your spindle is just gorgeous. I'm become so smitten with different spindles. That blue is so pretty too.

You certainly know how to pair pics!!! "Life imitates art."

I miss real mountains. I don't know if I'm quite ready for snow, but I must say I always envy the beautiful majesty of your natural surroundings. Not that nature around here isn't pretty, it's just a littl harder to get to.

whoa -snow! How very wonderful!
and that roving is deliciously beautiful. It looks like a soft winter sky.
