Take Me Out....
It was a perfect night out for a ball game...the best view in any ball park anywhere, perfect temperature, comfortable company (Gwen, Val, and Laurie), and a full moon that came up quickly from behind the mountain peaks. Oh and there was a hot dog, a beer, and the biggest ice cream cone I've had in many a year! The Trekking sock had a brush with fame (no it wasn't as exciting as Stevie Ray Vaughan) when the Bees Mascot was happy to share the limelight. Sitting in the ball park, watching the game and knitting with friends was so much fun. We must make it a point to return and enjoy another evening there soon.
I
t was a late night and an early wake up call as I headed out at 6:00am to the back of the Wasatch and the Homestead Resort. The morning couldn't have been more beautiful or comfortable. It was a lot more fun to drive around and visit with the foursomes instead of sitting behind a desk all day. This time of year is such a nice time to enjoy outdoor activities in Utah. The sunflowers are in full bloom and other cultivated plants are showing off just before they start to wan during the shorter fall days ahead. The eyelet cardigan enjoyed a little time in the sun.
The weekend ahead looks fabulous and I just might get caught up on some sleep. It was a very busy week and a nice slow weekend is in order. Enjoy yours!

Well, that bee look darned happy about it too! :)
Love it!
Your view always stuns me. In a good way
xo

I don't know how anyone can pay attention to the game with a view like that!

The Bee seems quite pleased to be posing with the sock. Sounds like a great night.

I'll bet the Bee went home and told about how she/he got a photo taken with a sock! ;)

heh The BEE!! Too cute - I'm sure he thinks it's his (or her?) brush with greatness! :)
Have a wonderful weekend - hope it's great weather for whatever you do!

I wish we could get a Stitch n Pitch thing going on here, with the Red Sox. That would be fun.

Is The Homestead the place with the "mounds"? If so, we had dinner there on one trip to Utah..found it quite by accident!

You sock-completers have all the fun... :-)

Sounds like you had great fun. The weather there is gorgeous. You lucky. We have about 6 more weeks of hot until it turns autumnal here in Middle Earth.

so sad I missed it! sounds like a lot of fun. did you all get goodies? or is that just for the majors?

What a cute photo of the sock with the Bee! I am envious about Stitch n Pitch, as there aren't any anywhere near me. The cardi is progressing nicely and I hope you two get some quality time this weekend.

Bees game looked like fun. I am sad I missed it. The park has the most beautiful ball park setting I have ever been to.
Posted by: Erin | August 11, 2006 at 01:39 PM
Oh, wow! Did you sock make it on the "jumbothon?"
If your park doesn't have one, that's the really big screen that everyone can see.....the White Sox park has a great one, and it roams around and shows pictures of spectators during the game.

Haven't been to a ballgame in years, but the smell of beer and hot dogs is still there in my memory bank. What is the pattern of the purple cardi? You probably mentioned it in a previous post, but I cannot remember! Enjoy a relaxing weekend.

Everything is starting to feel more like fall - especially the tenor of the baseball pennant races! Glad you're enjoying it.
Posted by: Theresa | August 11, 2006 at 03:14 PM
That eyelet cardigan looks a lot like a sock leg. ;-) Are those especially big petunias it's lying on?
We're getting some beautifully crisp evenings too, but I am wary of crying "fall" just yet--that's how you end up invoking another heat wave. ;-)

The bee and the sock is so cute! I love the picture.

It's been years since I've been to a ball game (since before I started knitting again), but I'm thinking I need to check that out. Looks like it could provide some serious knitting time with better light than a movie theater.
Still, it will be awhile longer. We're still suffering through the 100+ degree weather here in Oklahoma!

sounds like it was a great time at the ball game ~ and you're right about the view- wow.

I do love minor-league ball -- it's just so much friendlier, not to mention cheaper, than the major-league version.
Your mountains are amazing as always -- although you gotta admit, now that I'm sticking them in your face every day, ours aren't bad either, even if they are small.

Love the Bee! Have a great weekend!

John was at Homestead for his meeting this week (M-Thurs). Your paths almost crossed. He came home with some wonderful chocolate that they make there. Did you get some? Unfortunately I didn't get to taste it. Not on the meal plan anymore.

Sounds like a perfect day!

I was at a baseball game Thursday night, too! Alas, I didn't think to ask the (live) pig mascot to model with my Trekking sock. :)
