Off To Trek

Trekkingbagispackedandreadytoheadtozion_1Right after work tonight Smith, the boyz and I leave for So. Utah.  We'll stay with Neena and meet up with Smith's niece in Zion Park on Saturday.  The Trekking sock is packed and ready to go and will be trekking around the park with me. The color is #133 and the pattern is the Chevron in Sensational Socks.  It's easy to knit without looking at a pattern and it has an interesting effect on the self striping yarn. Branching Out is packed too so, when I have a bit of quiet time I can make progress on a PS project for June and enjoy the perfect process of lace.

Lisa H sent a hand made card to kick off  the Trek Along KAL. (That's Trekking XXL on theneedles!) Click to see the inside.

Trekkingcardfromlisah_2
It reads "The clearest way into the Universe is through a Forest in the Wilderness. -John Muir"

A very nice sentiment, indeed, as we head off on a summer of Trekking.  There may be a contest (with yarny prize, too) and one of you Trekkers will receive the card!.

ShowingoffcassiessocksLast weekend Cassie's 'soon to be published' sock (truly it will be soon) came off the needles and onto my feet.  They were just the thing to keep my feet warm while we enjoyed a Sunday of relaxation. This makes 6 pair of socks knit in 2006.  Two more pair are on the needles.  Just wait until you see the socks I'm knitting with Dave's fabulous Parrot yarn, which is very nice for a PS project in June.  You'll see all my PS projects next week as nearly everything in the knitting queue is in the blues (but not they are not unhappy).

Enjoy your weekend, get out in the outdoors, breath the air (if you dare) and be in touch with the world around you.  Your landscape, whether city or country is a part of who you are.  Relish it, honor it and enjoy it.

Have a great time at Zion Park. It looks SO beautiful.
You're tunring into a one-woman sock factory!

Yummy trekking colourway! Those are going to look grrrrrrreat!
Have a great weekend!

lovely trekking colorway. looks like the pattern will do it justice.

Lovely socks ;-) -- and yes, soon. I promise.

I love your last paragraph. I haven't been in the woods in too long. (It's been wet a lot, but that's not really an excuse.) I guess I'd better make me a pattern for the Trekking socks and get started. I'm using color 76.

Have a great weekend away!!

I picked up my in-progress Trekking socks and worked on them a bit last night -- a solidarity move with you Trekkers just starting out. Now I'm anxious to finish!!

Zion's sounds great! Have fun!

I love the Trekking color. I'll have to try that after I finish the blue and teal.

Have a great weekend!

Those Trek socks are so pretty. I'm sure the chevron pattern will be perfet. Have a great weekend!

Have a wonderful time in Zions! It is one of the most amazing places in Utah. (And the rock climbing is unbelievable.)

Loving the Trek yarn! Can't wait to see the FO!

You are the ulitmate sock model, casually resting the new pair! These look great. As a new convert to sock knitting, I'm looking forward to Cassie's release of the pattern! Have a lovely Trek.

I so enjoy your photos and the writing too!

Have a wonderful trip, M! I look forward to your trekking (and Trekking) photographs!

Safe travels~

Say hi to Neena and give her a hug for me. Enjoy your weekend - the weather should be beautiful.

Oh, enjoy your trip to Zion. I loved my time there. It's such a lovely park.

Your socks are gorgeous as always!

I can't wait to see all the blue you have planned for June!

M ~ Enjoy your trek! I'm curious about people's patterns for the Trekking ~ I guess they will just note them as they post. I have mine ready to start on US1s but am curious about others' needle choices. What's yours?

you are certainly churning out those socks - and they are all gorgeous! have a great weekend!

Your Trekking sock is coming along nicely. Where did you get those point protectors? Haven't seen any exactly like that before. I don't normally use them, but I can see how they would come in handy for toting your WIP around without dropping the stitches off the needles.

Love Cassie's socks too.

Have a great time and hug Zion hello for me. Say hey to Neena and Donzoid, too!

Have a wonderful weekend on tour. Try to stay cool!

S. Utah is going to be gorgeous. Have a great trip.

Have a great weekend, Margene!

Have fun on your trek! We are hoping to get out and trek, too, but the weather may not cooperate this time.

Have a great break! Your socks look cushy warm.

I love Zion...but Bryce is my favorite in Utah. Have a great trip!

That's one thing I don't have to worry about - we have good air and good water. Makes me lucky, I guess. Have a great trip.

Sounds like you have a great weekend planned! I'm planning a little beautification of my environment (read: yard work) - but it's always worth it!

I am so glad that you get to dash away for the weekend and enjoy Zion! I hope the weather is perfect for hiking and that you have a relaxing time with good family, good food and good wine.

OOH la la - can't wait to hear about this weekend trip - my friend is traveling from Chicago to Zion soon and I look forward to your *Tales from the Trekk*.

HUGS!

Do I have to comment about anything in particular? Reading your blog is like therapy for me. I just love it. Have a wonderful visit with your sister and a great time with your Trekking and Branching Out. What yarn are you using for BO? I don't remember seeing anything about that.

Such a pretty color of Trekking. I am still bitter over my stolen sock. Not very Zen like. Have a terrific w.e.

I LOVE yer blog and read it at least 2x week... but the quote s/b "through a forest wilderness", not "through a forest 'in the' wilderness".

Glad to hear you were going to Zion and not Bryce...they had a slide and parts were closed to the public last week! Your card was darling (and very well done!) by the way...thanks!

I wonder how we sock knitter's got along before Sensational Socks and Vintage Socks? hehe...

Love your Treks and your adorable card!

Catching up on my reading and just had to remark upon your Cassie socks. What a great design! And so pretty in pink. :-)
