Grateful for a quiet Sunday with no obligations and a beautiful day with not quite clear skies.
Grateful that the Salt Lake Country Road Dept. keeps the canyons well plowed and sanded, which makes traveling to our favorite spot fairly safe.

Grateful that our favorite spot has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with a raging fire to warm us, as we come in from the high winds and blowing snow. Grateful for the amount of snow covering the peaks and the beautiful view from Silver Fork's window.
Grateful that Smith can kept his cool after his stupidity and lack of forethought his mistake of pulling off the road in a bad spot, (to take a picture for the blog!) caused the car to become hopelessly stuck in mud and snow. Grateful for the many people who stopped to help. Especially grateful for the two young men from Idaho, who turned around, as they knew we were in trouble, took time to pulled us back onto the road during a blizzard, and got us safely on our way. Grateful that Smith gave them enough money to buy a very hearty lunch as compensation.
Grateful that snow in the mountains creates a beautiful winter wonderland.
Grateful to be safe and warm at home with Smith, two sweet dogs and my knitting.

I totally get what you're saying! I too live in extremely picturesque mountains, and have made the same type of "Must get a photo of that!" pulling over mistake.
The funny thing is that your photos look just like the mountains where I live (Rockies in Alberta, Canada). I guess once you get near the tree line and it's snowing, all mountains have the same soul searing majesty.

I am grateful you are both okay. Smith...taking photos for the blog. What a guy. Can we say it was worth it? :) Loved your meme answers! You are such an interesting woman. You know you are welcome to stay on LI and hop on the LIRR into NYC any day!

What an "adventure" - glad it all turned out well and you're both safe and sound.

Wow, what an adventure. Great pics and I'm enjoying seeing all the snow. Quite jealous of all the snow, actually.

But it was worth every beautiful snowy minute. Love the photos

I hope Smith knows exactly how much we all appreciate his efforts to not only help with the blog, but also take good care of our Margene. Those are lovely pictures.

Oh man Margene! Glad you guys are okay! That totally sucks.
My pictures sort of look like yours - well they will when I post them - we had snow too!Yeah. I know. We don't have beautiful mountains, but snow can make anything look beautiful, right?

Those pictures just made me lonesome for more snow...which I'm sure I'm going to think is hysterical later this week.

Heh, the trouble we get ouselves into for the blog! Grateful it all worked out.

Grateful that you're safe. Grateful that you have a blog. Grateful to know you.

Margene, I am so glad that you and Smith are safe and sound! That's a really harrowing situation to be in and I'm so glad there were good samaritans to help.
I'm getting ready for winter here by getting my winter supply of 3 40 pound bags of dog food to stay in my trunk this winter. I have a rear wheel drive car that needs trunk weight to properly function in the snow... :)
I didn't know you had two pups! When will we get to see pictures of them? ;)

Thank goodness you're ok! Yikes.
I didn't comment on your previous post, but I loved it. I agree that you should come to NYC (where you will no doubt meets lots and lots of blogfriends). Though I don't know you well, I have to disagree with one item in your meme: you don't strike me as the slightest bit selfish. There are a few women in blogland (most notably you, Norma and Stephanie) who regularly inspire me to knit for and/or donate to charitable causes. You are a kind, generous, good soul, and I consider myself lucky to "know" you (though I look forward to actually meeting you some day).

Wow--I would have been scared out of my mind!!!! Glad you're okay. :)

Looks like you can add grateful for Jeeps. :-) I'm so glad you had kind helpers come along, and I'm grateful for the snow pictures on the blogs today. So pretty.

That first picture might just have been worth the ensuing ordeal. It's incredible!

Wow the snow is gorgeous and I'm glad you got out of the mud! Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog ;-) I'm so happy to be in blogland haha

Your post today could have been a description of part of our drive back to Connecticut a few weeks ago! Only, it was the guy behind us, who had to swerve off the road to avoid crashing into the rear end of our truck, who needed pulling out! NOT my favorite kind of driving! That's the price, though, for living in such gorgeous country. Glad you're back safe and sound.

It sounds perfect (despite the off-road escapade).

thanks to one and all including The Maker. snow, i don't know about that though; i'm told it might snow a bit here in dallas in a day or two.

Yikes! Glad you're both ok, but it's a reminder that every time you go out in a car it's a risk. (We nearly went off the road earlier this week...I fishtailed all over the place, but luckily we were the only ones around. It really was scary though, and I was definitely GRATEFUL to get home.)

Beautiful picutres. Grateful your still not stuck on the side of the road. Grateful for cold weather so I can wear my new mittens. Ungrateful that I don't live where it snows all the time.

Beautiful photos, scary story! I'm so glad someone stopped to help. Would you believe in Florida this morning its 34 degrees??? Can't imagine what it is in those photos!

Goodness me, when the Winter starts you get snow and then some! One minute you've beautiful trees and clear blue skies, the next blizzards. I'm glad you got home safe and sound.

It's so hard when the intentions are honorable and good, and the outcome is so problematic. One feels like a witch in the yelling.
Following your snowfall with interest and passion.
