And MY Sock Had Fun, Too

Saturday was our last day of full sun for the weekend. The beautiful blue sky was sparsely filled with feathery clouds and the mountains were glorious with their snowy peaks. All that snow is melting slowly and filling the streams with cold, clear water. Our cooler temperatures have kept it from causing any flooding. Smith and I decided the best place enjoy the last of the sun was on the Plaza at Snowbird, so we headed up the canyon.

There is still skiing at Snowbird, and not only that, there will be skiing until Independence Day! (Monday's storm produced yet more snow.) The Plaza deck was filled with skiers and sight seers enjoying the sun. With the barbecue going (as it does all winter) and the band playing blue grass, the atmosphere felt very much like a holiday.
You may see a few bare patches on the mountain, but the higher regions are still loaded with several feet of snow. While skiers and boarders can no longer come right up to the plaza, they need only walk a few feet across the bridge. Many happy faces came off the slopes. The sun and atmosphere were so enjoyable we lolled longer than intended while listening to the band and the roar of the nearby creek. As we were leaving we noticed the very large tent used for summer music festivals was going up. Spring and winter at the same time make Snowbird a very cool place to be. And, of course I had my knitting along. The Harlot's sock has a more adventurous life than my sock does, but it still enjoyed the weekend.

Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers in my father's behalf. Blogland can be a wonderful, caring place.

I can't imagine skiing in temperatures above 45 degrees. Doesn't feel "right". Sock is coming along well. Hope Dad is too.

Maybe I'd finish more socks if I'd treat them to more vacation time. Mine spend far too much time sitting around.

Look at all that snow! I have to say that I'm gleefully happy that I'm no longer within quick driving distance of any snow. At least you've been having gorgeous sunny weather. My socks are hiding under the bed shivering :)

What a lovely part of the world you live in and skiing in warm temperatures...wow. Love the sock photo...I just love how the Harlot does that. Thoughts and prayers for your Dad. Take care.

Socks do love to get out and about. I suppose it's just to make up for the fact that when they are done they're going to be on our feet and covered by shoes, so they won't get much exposure to all the places we will travel while wearing them.
I'm thankful my husband does not read your blog, because if he knew he could ski until July in Utah, he'd be there in a minute! (On the plus side, I could turn that to my advantage and convince him that we need to move out of Massachusetts. . . )

I can't imagine living in a place so beautiful. You'd cry if you could look out my window.
Missed the post about your dad - hope things are going okay - my thoughts are with your family.

The sock and the mountains are just beautiful. I love seeing your snowy mountain pictures especially since the snow is nowhere near me :)

Every good sock deserves an outing or two. My current sock on the needles gets to ride the train today.

I think your sock has it pretty good. Beautiful Utah mountains and skies.

LOL That sock pic reminds me of the travelling gnome in Amelie. Have you seen it? Happy trails, little sock! ;)

The colors of that sock are just beautiful, and I love the picot edging. It looks positively summery, even if the snow-capped mountains don't.

I took the entire weekend off from blogging and just read aboutyour father. I will be thinking and praying for him.
Your sock sure seems to be getting around Margene! You better make sure it doesn't take any strolls with Moxie! :)

Man, socks can be jealous. Mine was just complaining that it hasn't seen snow covered mountains...

Wow, that's so pretty...well, both the socks and the scenery. :D
Speaking of taking knitting on vacation, I think I'm taking Rogue out with me to Kansas rather than socks since, well, the socks are for my mom and she isn't *really* supposed to know about them. Hence, the Socks Are For Studying. ;D

What fun! Especially the sun, mountains and bluegrass together - can't get any better than that! I really like the colors in your current sock.

My dad is way up there in age, with lots of things going wrong. But when you ask him how he is, he always says "beats the alternative." I dread the day he doesn't feel that way anymore. Hope it eases up for your dad.

Love the sock colors! I like the traveling sock pictures--maybe you and Harlot have started a trend :)
We will be heading out of Utah at the end of the month--hopefully you'll still stop by my blog on occasion; even when I'm not a "Utah Grrl" anymore! Hope your father is doing well.

I can't believe there is still skiing up there! God bless Utah.

Your socks look great! They had a good time seeing the sights, I'm sure.
Now - Off topic - you look great, too. Didn't you say lately that you lost weight? How did you do it?
