Fun in the Sun!
Weather people! Weather is not an exact science but, any trust I had in the people who forecast what's coming has vanished. Saturday, we were told, would be rainy, along with Sunday and most of this next week. So, it was a wonder to wake Sunday morning to a clear, warm and beautiful day. We shunned our favorite spot for the beauty of Snowbird, knowing it would be a great place for photos.

We picked the right place to enjoy on this extraordinary spring day. The snow-pack has barely begun to melt as it has been so cool and wet here. It snowed the last few days so the skiers had fabulous conditions. A skier can ski right up to the Snowbird Plaza, remove his/her skies and have lunch, sit in the sun, enjoy a beer and then head right back up the tram to the fabulous snow. Every skier we saw who did just that, came off the slope with a big grin. They chatted with each other about the best places to ski and which trails had the freshest snow.

Just to prove you don't need to be a skier to enjoy the Plaza, here I am, knitting in hand, enjoying the sun and a coffee. We had intended to take a few picture and then head back down to our 'to do' list. But, it was so warm and heavenly that we decided a day of dallying was in order. Not long after this picture was taken I shed the sweater as it was so warm in the sun. The foretold clouds covered the sun awhile later and we took our leave of heaven. On the right is the view of the mountain from my vantage point where I sat, knitting, enjoying the sun and watching skiers come and go.
The snow-pack has not melted much, as I said, and you can see by this picture of the stream that is still shallow and slow moving. Look at how deep the snow is along the bank. In a couple of weeks, IF the 80 degrees temperatures they forecast come to be, this will turn into a raging torrent. Our day did end up cloudy and chilly, but the forecast is for a few nice days with rain towards the end of the week. We'll just take it as it comes, unsettled or beautiful. It's Spring! Here is one more shot of the mountain peaks. One of the main reasons we stay in Utah is her uncommon beauty.

Beautiful, beautiful pictures. Thank you.

I really liked the pictures. The one of you reminds me of the "beach" at Deer Valley.

The pictures are very very lovely and very appreciated. Not even large hills around here...

I have only the tiniest memory of driving through Utah, mostly at night so I didn't see much. Your wonderful photos show me what I missed - thanks for sharing!

Wow! Another Monday morning with fantastic views, courtesy of you. It rained here all weekend, so I really, really appreciated the sunny and scenery this Monday.

Wow, what a fabulous Sunday. I am glad the weather was unexpectedly nice for you and Smith. Great pics, as always. What were you knitting?

Oh, that truly looks like a piece of Heaven. How much closer could you get?

Wasn't it beautiful this weekend? Snowbird looks great--we spent Sunday enjoying the warm sun in our backyard. Thanks for the Monday morning mountain shots :)

Where else could you have a job that allowed you to be wrong so much of the time? Love the pictures...what a great way to start my week. :)

From someone who dislikes snow, I really do like your beautiful mountain pictures! How great that the forecasters totally blew it and you were able to get out in such a beautiful day.
Knit on.

I can't believe the "Bird" is still open. I bet they'll be skiing 'til the 4th of July. Remember that year?
We went to the Stinger's game yesterday. Ahhhh, sun!

Hey! I'll trade you my Sunday for yours sometime. Do I have to tell you what my Sunday is like first? I think I'd rather surprise you. BTW-What were you knitting?

Fabulous pictures, Margene! (I thought of you last week every time we went down to SLC from Park City!) We did have an accurate weather forecast here in Connecticut (rain) but it didn't stop me from making a trip to our own little Sheep and Wool Festival. Pleasant surprises in every barn, and unlike what Maryland is sure to be like next weekend, no restroom lines! I bought my first fleece and can't wait to get into that baby with my drum carder.

Sun? are you gonna share some with me? If so, maybe next weekend I can get up to the Northen Mtns to take photos :-)

You always seem to have great weekends! Glad to see you enjoyed another one!

HA! I used to be one of those "weather people" and even I don't trust their forecasting. The mountains cause such small scale weather changes it is near impossible to forecast correctly for each location unless you've lived there and experienced the effects yourself.
Looks like it was a wonderful weekend!

that shot of you, with the sun, coffee and knitting says it all!

What BEAUTIFUL, refreshing photos! Thank you for always sharing, Margene. I've come to love your Monday posts especially.

If there is one thing I've learned...when the forcast is for rain...it will probably be beautiful out. That is what happened last week!
Gorgeous photos! That is a classic shot...you...in the sun...in your sweater & jeans. :-)

Goodness, that's gorgeous. I need to go out west sometime. The azaleas here in NC are glorious, but the earlier flowers are all done, and the trees have gotten all modest on us - no bare branches to be seen. (and I've already had to mow twice, but I don't mind that - it's my "quiet" time outside). Lovely pictures!
