Now what you you call this?

- Chaos?
- Knitting mania
- Startitis
- Overwhelm
- Delusions of Grandeur
- What the hell is she thinking?
- That's a good start
- She's out of her mind
- My WIPs look about like that
- Why talk about it in public?
- It's a disease!
- You should be able to knock all that out in a weekend
- Is that all?
No, that's not all! There is a bag of sock yarn near by that will become the next Six Sock 'Team Sock' and I need to start the BWA jacket, Chinatown. But, that's all I'm admitting to right now.
You can see the pink sleeve of the Eyelet Cardi, the start of NBT, the Leaf Lace Shawl, Alpaca scarf (well that one could wait), and the Spearfish sock.
The problem is that I want them all, WANT them all NOW, especially the Cardi and the T-shirt. Judy’s yarn makes the shawl so much fun to knit (and I need to finish it by May for my sister's birthday). Both the cardi and the T would be great to wear right away and I love working on socks (and need to get the Team Sock done by the end of May, but first comes Spearfish.) Priorities need to be set...it IS all too overwhelming. I need some sense knocked into my head (now be kind) handed to me. Do I sound like I'm raving?
Ok, taking a deep breath, it's time to decide on which project(s) to consentrate on (now) and which should take a time out. So, it will be the Eyelet Cardi and the Leaf Lace (for now). Ah, I feel much better but, I wish I had four arms and four eyes. Enough about me...
Some people are just too talented. First it was Knitty and now THIS! Isn't it the cutest idea for felting? You could make this basket in red and green for Christmas, spring colors for Easter, use it to give gift baskets for any reason, or hold your own spinning or knitting. I tell you, that Susan is going to get a big head.
Go get your button!
I'm not bitter....(just a bit envious).
I so need the weekend! Enjoy yours.

Margene that pile isn't so bad. But good for you for facing up to it and prioritizing. :)

That pile looks like a whole lotta fun to me!

Ayuh.....my WIPs look like that. However, odds are very good that yours will be completed, and you'll be in the next generation of WIPs before I even get to mine. Hopefully starting Chamomile today in the car, though! (but my hands and forearms are killing me...waaaaa!)

That doesn't seem like so many things to me. Oh but wait, you're not including stuff on extended hold - like Lotus... ;)
BTW, I have my button - although I might be a teensy bit bitter.
Posted by: Beth | April 15, 2005 at 05:57 AM
I don't have so many things started, but I have them all swimming around in my head and it is driving me nuts!

I think it shows diversity. Diversity is good.
No button for me, since I am going to MD Sheep and Wool. I only live a half hour away! :)

Looks like #6 on your list to me. :) Just kidding--I know you'll breeze through everything and then been at sixes and sevens until you find more to knit. :)

*poke* What about Lotus? Is she languishing? Don't forget her!!!!! ;)

You call that a pile, grrl! I start that many projects in a weekend. You can pound those out in no time.
Zen, Zen, Zen . . . .

I call it my Knitter's ADD - I have 3 WIP's and many more Projects I want to start. I'm about to start Rogue for my DD and want to knit a baby sweater for my pregnant DIL, and on and on and on. What is it about us that we are never really happy just doing the project that we're on, but want them all at once. By the way the Eyelet Cardigan is on my soon to be list too! Love your color pink for that one.

I call it "pretty". :) However, I do find a lot of WIPs is not good for my mental well being. Good luck with yours. ;)

I say you come up for the Sheep & Wool Festival up here at Ste. Chapelle.....!!!

I do love that basket. It's very adorable, if only I knew what I would do with it I'd order the pattern, my mind is a reeling.
Your works in progress don't look too horrible. I've seen worse, um, in my pile. Although right now I have many projects in my mind, but they aren't on the needles yet.
Posted by: Rebekah | April 15, 2005 at 09:26 AM
I just threw out half a sock because it's been "in progress" for so long that I have forgotten what pattern I was using, couldn't find the matching ball of yarn and needed the needles for something else. Yeah.
If it will make you feel better about MSW, by the way, it's so huge it's overwhelming and you probably would be in a coma from deep fried twinkies and wouldn't be able to buy anything, anyway. The food lines are 45 minutes long and the bathroom lines are longer. If the temperature is in the 80's or above (Maryland is not dessert..it's HUMID) you would probably pass out in the buildings which are not airconditioned. (Not one is airconditioned.) Did I mention it's humid? No, you wouldn't have a good time. Now, Rhinebeck...that's one you should be bitter about.

I would call that pile o knit "ambitious". But I bet you each and every one of those projects fills a specific void, or serves a very specific and different purpose in your life. I can't wait to see how they turn out!
Posted by: La | April 15, 2005 at 09:43 AM
It doesn't look too bad. Think of all the time that going to MDS&W would take away from those projects. I'm not bitter, either, and I certainly don't need to go broke on wool. :)

Between you and Snowball, I'm all set for Estes...2006. Just gotta make sure that our visit to my brother in Denver just happens to coincide with the Festival...

Personally I think it looks like Heaven. They're all gorgeous things. Thanks for the link for those bags, a lovely idea for all those occasions.
Posted by: Tracy | April 15, 2005 at 03:30 PM
Whee, lots of projects! I agree with La. It's not chaos, it's ambiciousness, and that's a good thing! And knowing you, you'll have them all done by next week anyhow, and just think what a good time you'll have in the PROCESS! (Since that's what it's all about anyway, right?) Have Fun!
Posted by: Kimi | April 15, 2005 at 03:35 PM
I love the knitting ADD comment (me me)and I'll see your pile and quadruple it and more. I should be ashamed but I'm not. Well maybe a little. I read your blog first because I see so many similaries in myself. Oooh that's scary! I count my UFO's and keep them in Excel. I can't bring myself to say publically how many that is! And I'm going to MD as I'm only an hour and a half away so no button for me!
Posted by: Joan | April 15, 2005 at 05:50 PM
It does get overwhelming sometimes doesn't it? I try to remind myself that there are no real deadlines and that I'm doing this because I enjoy it. Then, once I stop hyperventilating, I can usually see the project that needs attention most or that I most want to knit. I like to get anything with an *actual* deadline out of the way first.

I seem to recall a post from last summer (July?) where you mentioned that your WIP's were getting quite aggressive with each other. Please separate these WIP's before someone loses an eye! ;-)
Posted by: Susan | April 15, 2005 at 06:00 PM
good for you for making up your mind as to which project gets your attention! will you come make up my mind? :P
Posted by: rebecca | April 16, 2005 at 01:01 PM
You know, you can't possibly make every nice sweater pattern you see. That is product, not process.
Also, it is OK to buy nice sweaters too. Which, actually, would be a cost savings.
Again. Just sayin'.
