Weekend Happenings
The mountains received recording breaking amounts of snow this year including 81" during this last week. We had to run up to Alta and Snowbird to take a photo of my Sockapalooza Socks from Chris Q. They are perfect! I love the color and the pattern. Chris said this was her first lace and she did a beautiful job knitting this pair of socks...for me! They fit perfectly and will be well loved and worn. Thanks for a lovely pair of socks Chris, they are a treasure, and a big thank you to Alison for having such a wonderful idea.
Sunday was a marvelous day with our first clear blue sky in a week. It was actually warmer in the mountains than in the valley. We decided to treat you to pictures of the resorts in Little Cottonwood Canyon. (Our usual haunt is Big Cottonwood Canyon.) Here is Smith standing in front of the peaks of Alta Ski Resort. Can you believe many resorts have over 150" of snow mid-mountain? 15 FEET! Cars were buried so deep you could barely see where they were. This guy was good natured about it as he had a fabulous week of skiing.
What a beautiful day of beautiful views, breathtaking sky and clear clean air to breath. These are the best days of winter (wait, isn't it spring!?). We enjoyed the pristine snow against the clear blue of the sky because that snow means we'll have water to drink for a few more years.
Here is a picture of me in Blaze, (I'm still lovin' that sweater!) with my knitting bag, standing at the base of a ski run in Snowbird Ski Resort. Can you see what's in the bag (besides knitting)?

I really do love you in Blaze... guess it better get moved up a bit on my list. What would you recommend for yarn if you were going to make it agin?? I hade trouble with it working up too heavy last try.

WOW!! 15 feet of snow.....I feel better already...LOL! That is a LOT of snow! Your socks are lovely and Blaze fits so nicely....very pretty.

Margene, you are one photogenic lady. You look lovely in everything you put on. Don't knock that height. I wish I had it! The proof of ownership photo is sweet. I can NOT believe the amount of snow you guys have. Wow, man. Ours is piddly comparatively.

Little Cottonwood must have been calling all knitters yesterday because the family and I took a drive there, too! The socks are beautiful, and you (and Blaze) are, too! :)

Wow! We have so little snow left it's crazy. 15 FEET! I can't imagine.
How did you get a copy of the book already? Is there some secret circle I should know about ... and don't?

I'm so glad that you like the socks--they look much better on your feet than they did while I was blocking them.
The yarn is Lorna's Laces, Sheperd Sock, in the Valentine colourway (I found it at Knittingzone.com). The socks were knitted from the Columbine Peak pattern in Cat Bordhi's Socks Soar on 2 Circular Needles book, on size 1 needles.
Thanks for the mountain pictures...I'm quite jealous, all we have is gray rain, and leftover dirty snow in Boston today.

I love that Blaze! I am still trying to get over the incongruity of wearing a short sleeved sweater in the snow though. I guess it's my inexperience with the white stuff. I want Stephanie's book so bad now - I guess I'll have to go buy it locally if I can find it.

Lookin' good in Blaze! And I sure wish I was there. While we were at Squaw, I told my guys we need to get to Alta to ski next time. Wait until they see your photos - they'll be ready for sure.

Those are some darn nice socks, how lucky you are! And do I detect that you are thinner? Not that you had much to spare, but you seem rather fit.
I'm working on your questions, I hope you don't think I'm ignoring you. Just busy busy busy...
I wish I had some of that snow (all the weather-phobics in L.A. are cursing me now). We are thinking of re-travelling our camping route of last spring-in August when this show is over, which included SLC!
