Oh my, THOSE Socks are FOR ME!?
The Salt Lake Stitch 'n Bitch is one of the best things that has ever happened to local knitting. We have so much fun and have made many close friends. This month is our first anniversary (Laurie will tell you more about that) and there will be many more. Many people have come and gone. We miss Erin, who moved away from Utah, Meg who has started nursing school and Larisa who is one of the best knitters any of us has ever seen, no longer comes. (We miss you grrlie!) Eliza came Tuesday night and we hope to have her back again. There is a core group that comes regularly and we have become very close. Emily, Shannon, Karen, Deanna, Susan and Laurie (our fearless leader) are the usual suspects in the group. You have to drag us away, kicking and screaming to miss a night with the gang. That little history should help you understand where I'm going. There is a very strong tie here and the friendships have been rewarding and most enjoyable. Laurie gave everyone a stitch marker last night and that gesture was treasured by each one of us. Sitting and bitching together while knitting has brought us much joy.
But then there is Susan and her Hugs and Kisses Sock. She knit one and brought it for show and tell last week. Her intention had been a Valentines Day pattern. But, with the tsunami she felt it would be a good idea to sell it as a way to generate funds for the relief effort. She said the sock was too big to fit anyone she knew. Then she handed it to me (yes I have largish feet). It fit perfectly! She said I could knit the second one and they would be mine! I was so touched and amazed at her ease in giving such a gift. She would bring me the yarn at our next meet up (I purchased a pattern in anticipation). Well, dear reader, she came on Tuesday night with the second one finished! Her trip to Vegas offered more knitting time than she realized and she wanted to make sure the pattern was 'perfect'. It is an amazing gesture of friendship. My feet will NOT be cold this winter because of her kind gift. I'm doing the happy dance!!
(Just imagine this sock knit in shades of gray or brown for you beaux. Think of the color possibilities!) There is now a KAL and a Ring starting for the socks and other knit items with proceeds going to aid. Check this blog for more details. And how cool is it that Stephanie has a button you can put on your blog if you have given to MSF. You can help in many, many ways.

My trip to PT was very successful and it was as Shelby suggested in our conversation. My sacrum was out of whack misaligned and the therapist did an adjustment. I'm in much less pain and maybe need only one more session. The rest will be up to me to do what I should to keep the back pain free. I'll learn that in a class next week. It is such a relief to have real relief. Thank you for all you kind and healing thoughts.
Psssttt...don't forget the Zen Contest. See the sidebar button and put in your 2 cents.

That is a very sweet gift! Guess having bigger feet can come in handy some times ;-) I am so happy to hear that your back is feeling better! That wacky sacrum can cause some awful pain.

Ooooohh, I love your new socks!! They have given me the motivation to finish my mates, so that I can start in on these socks. Just lovely!

What a fabulous gift. :) You have such a terrific group of knitters. I am envious. I am very glad to hear your getting back on your 'feet' and that the PT was pretty successful.

Oh, I'm so glad to hear that SOMETHING has helped your back. I'm glad you left out all the OCD parts of the "second sock" story. But, of course, they just looked so damn good on you. ;-)

Yah for alignment!

So glad that your sacrum is realigned. It's the foundation of your whole back and when out of whack, well, there is very little joy to be found.
Enjoy those lovely new socks!

Love the socks. I'm thinking of a pair in purple and green ... similar to colors of Laurie's blog ...

You are so right on with the warmth that emanates from the hearts of the SLC Stitch 'n Bitch group. My son's birthday is on a Tuesday in March and he was HORRIFIED to think that I might skip birthday dinner for knitting group. I assured him that I'd be there with him but already bemoan missing a future meet-up!
It is super cool that Sara* is thinking of those groovy socks in green and purple. That will be stunning, if I do say so myself.
