A weekend with friends just can't be beat! And that is easy to attest to as that's the way it was this weekend. Saturday was a day for
celebrating birthdays for two stitching friends, Cathy and Alice (each side,
front). We met as usual Saturday morning to stitch and chat, but extended our time together for lunch at a favorite Japanese restaurant (I'm the only one who enjoys sushi but there is much more on the menu). After the delightful repast Cathy and I headed out to Black Sheep Wool Company where Cathy bought her yarn for a class the next day.
Later that afternoon Smith and I drove north of Salt Lake City to check on a place that Anne is looking into (she's moving to Utah, ya know?) This is the sunset over the Great Salt Lake from what could be her driveway.

Anne's Twisted Cable Rib Neck Gaiter, that I am knitting with her soft and comfy alpaca/angora handspun, is finished. Iit was just too dark and dreary for pictures, but I promise you'll see it soon.
Sunday was even more fun as I spent it with the Stitch 'n Bitch SLC grrls. Emily, Laurie, Susan and I (along with Cathy from the day before) met for breakfast and a class at the Black Sheep. The talented and dynamic Anne Carroll Gilmour taught her Oriel Lace Scarf/Stole. We had a good time, laughing, chatting and just being with other knitters (who were also struggling with the same lace.) You can see how pretty the pattern is going to be in the Seafoam Douceur et Soie from Knit One, Crochet Too.
Sunday, as I said, was very dreary and chilly. Clouds surrounded the mountains obliterating them from view.
But, being with grrlfriends always can make any dreary day bright.

Oooo! I made the Oriel stole. But the Douceur et Soie looks really amazing. And its such a beautiful color.... hmmm....

I'm voting for that veiw for Anne's next home. And, if I ever need a new house, I want you to find it for me. You're pretty terrific.

You know, now I'm obsessed with knitting that stole! I finished another pattern repeat last night. Two down, 7 to go.

Good for you, I'm so glad you had a good weekend. Is that the same scarf that used to be a shop pattern? I think it's the one that made me nuts for a month.

Yes, it was fun. Susan is such an overachiever--I'm on row 14 of the first repeat, and she's finished TWO? Sheesh!
It was a lovely day to be with you all.

That looks lovely... and I was curious to know if I could get the name of that restaurant. I've been looking for a good Japanese restaurant to go to in Salt Lake. ;p That isn't ridiculisly uppity. ;p
