A Pair of Pairs

Indiglove2_1

I took the Gloves Along on our trek up the canyon last Sunday so they could enjoy the vistas of Snowbird, too! Ta Da! The pair of Indigo gloves that only took 2 years to knit…one last year, one this! Thanks Johanna for giving me the push needed to get started again! These little beauties are made from a 50/50 silk & wool blend which I purchased years ago at the local Fiber Festival. (Let me just say I’m envious of you all who are heading off to Rhinebeck!!) During a dyeing class at the Black Sheep they became indigo blue…pale indigo blue as it takes many, many dips in the dye pot to get that very dark indigo shade and we didn't have tons and tons of time or dye. The lace dancing up the fingers looks good in the pale yarn. The pattern is by Nancy Bush and is from A Gathering of Lace by Meg Swanson. A nice bit of warmth and color for the winter days ahead.

Moxietuna
Knitting gloves has been fun so I’ll follow up with another pair from Nancy’s Folk Knitting in Estonia. Anu’s Gloves are made with a rustic wool that Nancy’s sells called Tuna. This is Moxie checking out the Tuna during the photo shoot. In the book the gloves are knit in white and dark gray. I’m going for red and white. There will be plenty of yarn for more mittens or gloves and I have some black to use, too. I’m hooked on knittin’ glove and mittens for now, just like Sandy!

Color
Last Friday night when I sat down to knit, the Autumn Kersti from my Secret Pal started to scream…KNIT WITH ME! The siren song was too loud to resist. A vision of Voodoo Wrist Warmers danced in front of my eyes. They were deemed the right thing to knit with the yarn and they would be a perfect gift! (Emily was thrilled that they will be keeping her wrists warm this winter.) Kersti was more beautiful when wound into a ball and even more beautiful as I started to knit. The Voodoo's knit up quickly and only took one of the skeins, which means I'll have enough to make a pair for myself. They do remind me of our beautiful mountain colors. I’ll have to ask Johanna if they count for another pair on the Glove Along!

Donna
says to show your sky. Sandy and Wendy have followed suit but I already had a picture from last week. So check out the Salt Lake City sky here.

And head over to Caroline's place and see her incredibly pictures of Bhutan. The people, scenery, color and yarns are too wonderful for words!

I love those wrist warmer colors!!! And the gloves look SO nice and warm. It was cold here yesterday, so I decided I could use another hat.....but now maybe I need somem gloves too. Hm......

There is so much beauty in your pictures, Margene! the mountains are breathtakingly beautiful. I always thought that nothing could beat our new england autumn, but now I'm rethinking that! :)
Love your lace gloves! How perfect are they for the chilliness of fall! Can't wait to see the next pair!
Clouds really do add interest to a blue sky! I was hoping for some to float in for my sky pic, but you had them all!
;)

Both the gloves and the voodoo wrist warmers are gorgeous! I'm torn between knitting gloves or wristwarmers with this Koigu that I have... I've never knit either thing, so any way I go, it's going to be a learning experience!

i love your gloves! they are so beautiful and the colour really brings out the lace pattern wonderfully. i'll have to look into that book!

and omg what a cute doggie! give him a cuddle from me ...

What beautiful gloves those are! Definitely the wrist warmers count. I'm sure that they feel great in the Kersti. Ooh, beautiful gloves, beautiful scenary, what a great life!

Congrats on finishing the "annual gloves!" Beautiful gloves, beautiful background!

your wrist warmers are gorgeous and the gloves were worth the wait -- great work!! yay for autumn!

Don't miss Cindylou's awesome picture of the Austin sky this week at http://www.cyndilou.net/yarnutopia!

Beautiful gloves, Margene! one day I'll come out to see you in SLC for a glove tutorial. I get cross-eyed just looking at the patterns..and thanks for the referring!

the gloves were worth the wait!

Those wrist warmers are making me excited for Rhinebeck... can't wait to see the beautiful leaves changing. Don't worry, there will be plenty of pics.

Your gloves are just luscious Margene and the color is very nice - a royal aqua sort of indigo :) And thanks for reminding me about the Voodoo wrist warmers - definitely something I want to have on hand this winter!

Ooh, lovely gloves! And thanks for the Kerti wristwarmer idea. I just came across two skeins in my stash and was wondering what to use them for - Voodoo Wristwarmers it will be.

The lace gloves are great ! It must be very difficult to knit. I can't imagine I can knit those small fingers by DNPS. I think I am able to knit a fingerless glove only. Well done !

Those gloves are stunning! What wonderful work, and I agree, certainly worthy of a couple of years in the making. Enjoy them and the compliments you will undoubtedly receive while you wear them. --Cate (new RAOKer)

Those gloves are really remarkable. You have such a wonderful sensibility about lace. And I'm glad to see that you're enjoying the Kersti! Allbest, your SP2.

I love my Voodoos! I want to wear them all the time, and they are beautiful. My first Koigu, too. Thank you again!

What beautiful colours!
Li
