Spread the Love 2007
This year we're going with a theme, It's the Little Things, with the goal of knitting mittens, hats or socks for children.
If you have a favorite charity that meets this criteria please leave a link in the comments. We'll announce this Knit Along the first week of November and knit between November 15-30. Thank you!

For those people in Boston/Cambridge/Somerville, Lucy at Mind's Eye Yarns (www.mindseyeyarns.com) is collecting for the Somerville Family Network. Details from her email newsletter below.
Also, it is getting to be Mitten Tree time! Every year we collect mittens, hats, scarves, socks or whatever else you'd like to knit. We donate all of these to the Somerville Family Network. SFN works through Somerville Public Schools to make sure lower income kids have all the warm things they need for the winter. So, start knitting! The tree goes up the day after Thanksgiving and comes down New Year's Day.

As seen in the sidebar, the Soaring Eagles Project is up and running again this year. Because we had enough hats for last year's school and THIS year's school as well, we are focusing on giving each child a hat and then either a set of mittens or a pair of slippsers. Come by the blog to see what's up! Deadline is December 15th! http://soaringeaglesproject.blogspot.com

My knitting group of seniors knits hats and mittens for each headstart child...there are 54 little ones who depend on us for hat and mittens. They also get store bought socks and underwear.

Not a charity per se, but my LYS Soft Horizon Fibres in Eugene, OR collects caps for kids all year round,(stringing them like garland around the store!) and will do deliver them at the end of November. If you have lots of hats sitting around, it's a great place to drop them off.
